He'll Polo No Mo'
Perhaps Charles is embracing middle age. Or maybe his coccyx just couldn't take it anymore. After four decades in the saddle, the Prince announced Nov. 17 that he was hanging up his polo stick. His highs—and lows—over the years:
BROKEN MAN
Charles broke his right arm in two places after a fall in a '90 match.
DOWN BUT NOT OUT
In an August '01 match, Charles (horizontal, above) was thrown from his horse and knocked unconscious.
UPWARD FACING DOG?
Charles (in '02) isn't a yoga devotee: He was simply trying to relieve recurring back pain, aggravated by polo.
FAMILY AFFAIR
The Prince joined Harry and William on the Highgrove team in July '04.
RIDING HIGH
Charles (at Ascot in June '05) "decided to bow out gracefully," a spokesman says of his retirement.
Saved by the Bell Reunion
