COZY TIPS FROM NASHVILLE PROS

HANG SOMETHING BIG OVER THE MANTEL
"Go for a fabulous mirror to reflect the room," says Bo Boaz, co-owner of the interior design center the Iron Gate in Nashville. "To have an impact, it should be at least 3 ft. across, whether it's round, square or rectangular."

SET A MOOD
"Create intimacy with beautiful lamps placed where the seating is," says Zephyr Sharp of Nashville-based Tap.est.rie Designs. "Use vintage architectural pieces to add a lot of interest—especially in newer homes. Be creative, like using a piece of a fence as a fire screen."

PICK YOUR ACCESSORIES CAREFULLY
"Find things that coordinate with each other but don't match it up," says Nashville-based interior stylist Deana Slemp. "Maybe a basket for the logs, and a dough bowl for the kindling paired with an iron poker. To add warmth, place a long planter in the center of the mantel. You need to soften it up, because fireplaces can be harsh."
