KATE HUDSON
The actress—in a Balmain dress and Cartier diamonds—wanted "a '70s feel," said her hairstylist David Babaii.

ELLEN POMPEO
"I saw it in Vogue and it just photographed amazingly," said Pompeo of her Nina Ricci gown.

MARCIA CROSS
She credited her "amazing" stylist for pairing her Monique Lhuillier dress with green Jimmy Choos.

Vanessa Williams
"My daughter picked it out," said Williams of her Escada gown. "We have the same taste."

AMERICA FERRERA
What made Ferrera choose this lacy Monique Lhuillier dress? "It's the one that made me feel the best."

EVA LONGORIA PARKER
"I have to wear the tightest dress possible to dispel these [pregnancy] rumors," she said of her Naeem Kahn gown. "But now I'm like, 'It's too tight!'"

BRAD & ANGELINA: BABY BUZZ

For her big night, Angelina Jolie was striving for a very specific look. Combing through a variety of potential dresses, "we were looking for something soft, romantic," says Jolie's stylist Jen Rade. Well, add buzz-worthy to that description: When the best actress nominee made her grand entrance at the Shrine Auditorium in a voluminous vintage Hermès gown—accessorized by Brad Pitt on her arm—red carpet reporters were suddenly only asking one question: Is Angelina pregnant? Rumors first sparked at the Jan. 7 Critics' Choice Awards, where a fuller-figured Jolie, 32, was spotted sipping only water throughout the night, and reached feverish levels when she donned the more flowing silhouette at the SAG Awards instead of opting for her trademark figure-skimming style. The couple stayed mum on the subject all night and their reps declined to comment, but Pitt, 44, has never been shy about the pair's plans to give their four kids—Maddox, 6, Pax, 4, Zahara, 3, and Shiloh, 20 months—more playmates. "I think we'll crap out somewhere between seven and nine [kids]," he told Charlie Rose in December. And recently on Larry King Live, he called fatherhood "the hardest job in the world [and] the most rewarding."

Grey's Anatomy star Sandra Oh chose a Kim Me Hee dress "based on traditional Korean hanbok." Her post-awards plans? "To go to Astro Burger for fried zucchini!"

Backstage Edie Falco posed in PEOPLE's exclusive portrait studio with Sopranos husband James Gandolfini—they both won leading actor awards and The Sopranos won outstanding ensemble—then accidently left her statues behind. "I was wondering why my arms didn't hurt!"

"[Angelina] thought it was beautiful and loved the print in the fabric," says Rade of Jolie's billowing—and baffling—Hermès dress.

After nabbing Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, No Country for Old Men friendos Woody Harrelson (left) and Josh Brolin intermingled in PEOPLE's photo booth.

Dad-to-be Matthew McConaughey (right) powwowed with fellow SAG presenters Tom Cruise and Mickey Rooney.

Marion Cotillard (in Nina Ricci) admired nominee Cate Blanchett's Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière gown—and the baby bump underneath.

An under-the-weather Ruby Dee ("my head is stuffed up") perked up after her supporting actress win.

Nominee Ellen Page exchanged her Juno sweatshirt for a Zac Posen dress. "This is incredibly surreal and extremely humbling," she said.

INSIDE THE PEOPLE/E IF PARTY!
At PEOPLE & the Entertainment Industry Foundation's 12th annual gala, every star sparkled

Christina Applegate (left, in Elie Saab), who later compared BlackBerry messages with Kate Hudson, said, "I don't think I've worn lipstick in four months. It feels good!"

THE PLACE TO BE

After the SAG Awards, event designer Stanlee Gatti turned the Shrine Exposition Center back lot into a PEOPLE paradise, where celebs boogied to a live performance by Michael McDonald.

Ryan Gosling, sporting a black ribbon in honor of Heath Ledger, chatted with Desperate Housewives' Brenda Strong.

Rebecca Romijn, with Ugly Betty costar Michael Urie, said she wore "giant furry boots and a blanket" in her limo to fight the unusually frigid L.A. weather. But the party was so hot, all she needed was a little Roberto Cavalli.

After bonding with Rescue Me star Denis Leary, Forest Whitaker spent quality time cuddling with his wife, Keisha.

Grey's Anatomy star Eric Dane and his red-hot wife, Rebecca Gayheart (right, in Marchesa), partied with Ellen Pompeo.
