Billion Dollar Baby
He Has Mom's Eyes, Dad's Lips, His Own Floor in Trump Tower and Doting Parents. Welcome to the World of Barron William Trump
No doubt the 3-week-old would rather be back in his nursery lying on his white mink coverlet—a gift from furrier Dennis Basso—making faces at the gigantic stuffed dog that was a present from Barbara Walters. Or just staring at that golden stroller complete with its own chandelier (courtesy of Ellen DeGeneres) while sporting one of the gazillions of onesies sent over by friends, some emblazoned with the phrases "You're Fired!" and "You're Hired!" But right now, there's business to attend to. Cameras flash. Father and son smile. (Well, father smiles; son snoozes.) Says Trump, 59: "He's being such a good boy, honey, huh?"
And why not? Ever since the latest Trump—Dad chose the first name, Mom the middle one—arrived home on March 22, the family has settled into a happy routine: Melania, who turns 36 on April 26, takes care of Barron (with a bit of help from a baby nurse) while her husband goes to work. As she says, "I like to spend every minute with him. I feed him. I change him. I play with him." Though her firstborn has his own floor above his parents' bedroom—complete with nursery, kitchen, living room and quarters for a nanny and Melania—he occasionally sleeps in a crib next to his folks, which is fine by his dad. "I don't sleep much anyway," says Trump, "so if he cries, that's fine." But so far, Barron hasn't been putting up much of a fuss. "He's a very good baby," reports Melania. "He's not like a crybaby—he's calm, and it's fantastic." These days, there's nothing more touching for the lady of the house than waking up to see her husband giving Barron a bottle. "I love to feed the baby," says Donald. "Not because I have to, but just because I love it. A lot of times early in the morning I'll take care of him." Unless, of course, a diaper change is in order. "Over the years I have changed a diaper, but not on Barron," admits Trump, who has four other kids (with ex-wives Ivana Trump and Marla Maples). "That's my job," chimes in his wife. And as any CEO knows, delegation is everything. "Some women want the husband to do half the chores," says Trump, smiling. "That's not Melania—fortunately for me."
