Countdown to Glam!
What Does It Take to Rock the Oscar Red Carpet? For Lisa Rinna, It's a Bit of Botox, a Ton of Cardio—and Absolutely No Chips and Guacamole
Running with light weights helps the 5'7" Rinna "lean out the muscles," she says—as do cardio ballroom dance classes four times a week with Louis van Amstel, her ex-Dancing with the Stars partner.
2 Weeks to Go
Rinna cuts back on eating "anything white," including her beloved chips and guacamole, sticking to "any kind of soup" for lunch and chicken and veggies for dinner. She also limits alcohol to one drink a week, and doesn't eat after 7:30 p.m., suppressing her appetite with cups of yerba mate tea. "It's been hard," admits Rinna, who also covered the SAG Awards and Grammys for the TV Guide Channel. "I've had to be on my game for months!"
1 Week to Go
Botox treatments every three months or so keep wrinkles at bay, but just before Oscar time Rinna, 44, relies on the Laser Genesis Treatment and Dermal Quench treatment at L.A.'s Kate Somerville spa "to make my skin glow." As for her plump pout? Rinna insists, "My lips are real. I don't touch them!"
DAY OF THE OSCARS
"You literally have to starve yourself on that day if you wear a formfitting gown," says Rinna, who eats just enough "to keep going."
"I get up around 7:30, play outside with the girls, jump on the trampoline and have a banana and Red Bull," says Rinna. "Then I meet my hair and makeup peeps. We have three hours to get ready."
Rinna eats half an omelette, bacon and some cottage cheese—and stops all liquids at 11:00 "so I don't have to go to the bathroom for the three hours I'm on the carpet!"
Here are the products Rinna can't live without during awards season
DEXATRIM NATURAL GREEN TEA FORMULA
"Curbs hunger." $6.99; drugstores.
ARM & HAMMER TOOTHPASTE
Instead of bleaching her teeth, Rinna puts this on her electric toothbrush. $3.99; drugstores.
Deep Tissue Repair moisturizer. $150; katesomerville.com.
