When you're raised in a cult, you do not question the veracity of the people you know and love. You strive to make the best of your situation and can even achieve happiness. That does not, however, negate the fact that the children in FLDS are born into a controlled environment that's segregated and manipulated by older men. Let's pray, not only for the recovery of the children but for their mothers, who were children themselves when they were told which old man they were to marry.

I would like to point out that the FLDS religion is not associated with the Mormon religion. Yes, Mormons practiced polygamy over 100 years ago, the key word being "practiced." I wish nothing but the best for these women and children. I don't believe in underage marriage and think that even though they are in their own gated community, they must abide by the law.

Unbelievable, and that is not a compliment. I hope I am not the only one appalled by Ms. Trump's wedding that cost nearly $3 million and was her fourth marriage—to someone young enough to be her son. That money should have been used to buy a clue.

Our story on Steve McGarva, who spent two years rescuing abandoned dogs at Puerto Rico's Playa Lucia, drew an outpouring of positive responses from readers. "I can't find enough words of praise for Mr. McGarva," writes Gaynelle Vaughn of Delray Beach, Fla. "His selfless act of love and kindness is incredibly inspiring." Many readers held the government responsible for the plight of the abandoned dogs. Tammy MacBride of Mount Pleasant, S.C., says, "I can say that Puerto Rico will never see a penny of my vacation dollars as long as it continues to treat animals this way." Katie Block, the director of Island Dog (one of several groups working to help Puerto Rico's strays), adds, "It is money and awareness that will change the face of animal cruelty in Puerto Rico."
