"I wish the Ritchies could've worked it out. My thoughts and prayers are with their sweet children"

I was not at all surprised to hear that Madonna
and Guy Ritchie have split up. Madonna
is married to her career, and it doesn't seem like anything will slow her down.
HEROES IN HARD TIMES
Your article about Americans helping others in need brought home what it really means to be facing a difficult time. As a teacher, I was particularly touched by Rebecca Rund's Food for Thought project (providing backpacks of food to schoolchildren who might otherwise go hungry on the weekends). I'll be visiting her site to see what I can do to start a similar project in my community. Thanks for reminding me of just how fortunate I am and how one person can make a difference.

You say: 45 is the new 30. Not without a great deal of help!
As a pediatrician who sees an increasing number of overweight children in our clinic, I want to thank you for illustrating their plight. But judging from the high amount of sodium, as well as the lack of significant fiber or vegetables in John Presley's "after menu," he will need ongoing help from his nutritionist. How about revisiting him next year?

One advantage of being a thirtysomething is getting to see Pink evolve as an artist and a strong young woman. I love her new style, music and attitude.

BEVERLY HILLS CHIHUAHUA
As an animal shelter volunteer, I was really touched by your story about Rusco, the Chihuahua mix that was rescued and went on to become a film star. Hopefully, more people will consider adopting an animal through their local shelters and rescue groups. These pets, while not destined for movie stardom, would most certainly provide the best gift of all: unconditional love.
MILEY AND JUSTIN
Since when is it acceptable for a 20-year-old man to date a 15-year-old girl? Miley Cyrus
is a role model for a lot of young girls. Her friendship with Justin Gaston is inappropriate; she is too young.
A SPIRIT UNSCARRED
In our March story commemorating the fifth anniversary of the Iraq war, we featured retired Army Cpl. J.R. Martinez, who, as a 19-year-old serving in Iraq, was severely burned by a land mine explosion. Soon after our story appeared, the 25-year-old from Dalton, Ga., says, "everything finally started to work for me." Invitations poured in for him to deliver motivational speeches to schools, clubs and universities. And this fall, despite the fact that he had no acting experience, J.R. auditioned for a part in ABC's daytime drama All My Children and was hired for a three-month role as an injured Iraq vet. His first episode, filmed in New York City, aired Nov. 7. Says J.R.: "To continue to be a voice for the troops is amazing."
In our Oct. 27 issue, we should have said the last reported sighting of Caylee Anthony was on June 16. In a caption on page 74 of our Oct. 13 issue, we identified the girl and woman pictured with a cake as Leah Gosselin and her mother, Kate. The girl is Leah's sister Hannah. And in our Sept. 15 issue, we said Ralph Young's singing partner was Toby Sandler. His name was Tony Sandler. We regret the errors.
