"Is it just me or does Jennifer Aniston look so much happier and more beautiful than ever before?"
Thank you for the wonderful interview with Jennifer Aniston. She's an amazing actress who doesn't always get the credit she deserves.
Jennifer Aniston's career is soaring, and she makes headlines by being the best person and actress she can be. She is most certainly an inspiration for strong women everywhere.
What a disappointment that Jennifer Aniston got the Year-End cover instead of a far more deserving candidate: actor and philanthropist Paul Newman.
I want to commend you for including Brad Renfro in your 2008 Tributes section. Although snubbed at this past year's Oscar farewells, he was a wonderful actor worthy of remembrance.
WHITE HOUSE FAREWELL
I enjoyed your White House farewell letter. As a Republican, I will miss having George Bush as President, but as an American, I will give Mr. Obama my full support.
So President Bush considers throwing out the first pitch at the 2001 World Series his most anxious moment as President. How about 9/11, the weapons of mass destruction and the Iraq war, Hurricane Katrina or the crumbling economy?
2008: A LOOK BACK
I admit you featured some great celebrities in the Look Back section of your Best & Worst double issue, but where was Zac Efron? In 2008 he not only turned 21, but he also had quite a hit with High School Musical 3. I'd say this was a pretty darn good year for him and his fans.
Little Caylee Marie Anthony was finally found after months of continuous searching, and the best PEOPLE can do is give her the briefest of mentions in the back of the magazine, tucked away in a corner? In the future, I will expect better coverage of new developments in Caylee's story.
David Taylor, whose older brother Staff Sgt. Gary Jeffries died last year in Iraq, was deeply moved by our tribute to 2008's fallen American servicemen and women. "It meant a lot to my family, and my mother was really touched," he writes via e-mail. So, too, were readers everywhere, including Yolanda Robles of Scottsbluff, Neb., whose son Marine Cpl. Adrian Robles lost his life in Afghanistan: "My son is a hero, as are all his brothers in arms. We will never forget them." Nor will we forget those still serving, notes Lene Coots, of Big Creek, Ky. "Tears rolled down my cheeks, just trying to grasp the number of soldiers who have perished and the many still fighting," Coots recalls. "They need to know we still remember and support them."
Editor's note: The Jan. 12 issue carried a story about meal portion size ("Lose Weight Just By Changing Your Plate!") based on a book by advertising executive Alex Bogusky. The story made specific reference to the portion sizes of particular fast food items. We have since learned that Bogusky has done work for a competitor of McDonald's, one of the companies singled out—a relationship our readers should have been made aware of. Had we known of the conflict, the story would have been approached differently. We regret the omission.
