On Jan. 12 Alison Sweeney was still in hair and makeup after working all day as the host of the NBC reality hit The Biggest Loser
when she stopped by the hospital for a quick checkup. Nine months pregnant with her second baby, a girl, Sweeney still wasn't expecting what happened next. "My doctor was a little worried and said, 'I don't want to leave her in there one more day.'"
So Sweeney, 32, settled in for the lengthy process of having labor induced, expecting to give birth early the next morning. She even told her husband, California highway patrol officer Dave Sanov, 36, to go get dinner. "But he leaves the building, and my water breaks! The doctor says, 'Don't breathe, don't sneeze! I don't know that I can get the baby to wait for your husband to come back!'"
Running back into the delivery room, Sanov got there just 10 minutes before the couple's first daughter, Megan Hope, arrived. "It would have made good TV!" Sweeney says with a laugh.
Life at home has been slightly less harried since then: Megan has "Daddy wrapped around her little finger," Sweeney says. Not to mention big brother Ben, 4, who "pets her head and calls her cutie-pie."
But Mom still isn't slowing down: Sweeney was back on the Loser set just eight days after the birth and returned to her role as Sami Brady on the soap opera Days of Our Lives
six days after that. "What can I say? I'm weird," she says. "I wanted to get back into the swing of things."
She's also getting back into shape, thanks to training at home with her Nintendo Wii. "That's helped a lot," Sweeney says. Because with two kids and two jobs, "when do I have time to go to the gym?"
