Roger Federer Marries His Longtime Love Miroslava Vavrinec While Fellow Tennis Pro Andy Roddick Says 'I Do' to Swimsuit Model Brooklyn Decker
Roger Federer & Miroslava Vavrinec
APRIL 11, 2009
Fans could forgive Roger Federer for seeming distracted at the Monte Carlo Open (where he lost in the third round): Five days earlier he'd wed his girlfriend of nine years, former tennis pro Miroslava "Mirka" Vavrinec, 31, with whom he is expecting a child this summer. After a quiet ceremony in his hometown of Basel, Switzerland, family and friends went to nearby estate Villa Wenkenhof for what a pal calls a "very intimate event." Wrote Federer, 27, on his blog: "It was a beautiful spring day, and an incredibly joyous occasion."
Andy Roddick & Brooklyn Decker
APRIL 17, 2009
A heavy rainstorm may have ruined the plan for a perfect Texas-sunset wedding, but as Brooklyn Decker walked down the candlelit aisle to meet fiancé Andy Roddick at the altar, it was clear nothing could dampen the mood of their big day. Saying their vows beneath a tent erected outside Roddick's Austin home, "they were so excited," says a source. "They had looked forward to this for so long."
And with good reason. Together since 2007—when Roddick, 26, spotted the swimsuit model, 21, in a magazine and tracked down her number—"they knew from the moment they met that they were perfect for each other," says a friend. Their year-long engagement, Decker later told PEOPLE, was "the happiest time."
After exchanging platinum Tiffany & Co. wedding bands in front of guests like tennis legend Billie Jean King, the party moved to the Westwood Country Club, where they dined on steak and fish—and listened as Sir Elton John (who knows Roddick through their mutual charity work) performed a 10-song set. "They were all of Andy and Brooklyn's favorites," says the pal. "It was something they'll remember their entire lives."
