"My heart goes out to the fiancée of Philip Markoff. The young woman is living a nightmare"
Anonymous Perkinston, Miss.
If Philip Markoff is found guilty, then by all means he should be punished for his crimes. However, he seems to have already been tried and convicted by the authorities and the press. So what do we need courts for?
J.D. Corpus Christi, Texas
Concerning Philip Markoff's fiancée, Megan McAllister, I'm pretty sure the proper paraphrase would be, "There's none so blind as she who will not see."
Jennifer Furioli-Aldrich Navarre, Fla.
Ivana Trump's extensive and opulent surroundings are not what Americans need to be reading about right now, especially those Americans who are losing their jobs on a daily basis in this dismal economy.
Judi Gonsalves Quincy, Mass.
Ivana Trump has inspired me! I just went out and covered my mailbox in fabulous faux leopard skin. My unemployment check looks super in it!
Amy Hurd Fetchko Basking Ridge, N.J.
In a society where celebrity kids are often in the news for getting into trouble, the Trump brood have stayed focused and career oriented. Wealth and luxury aside, Ivana and Donald Trump deserve credit for raising their children so well.
Jane House Henderson, Nev.
Kudos for your article on Susan Boyle. Her incredible voice provides a humbling lesson for all those who are so quick to judge others by appearance alone. I hope Susan takes it all the way to the top. She might have been a late bloomer, but she's a shining star now.
Rhonda Bertram Crown Point, Ind.
Why should Susan Boyle change her appearance? In the 1960s, did Barbra Streisand change her famous nose?
Sherrill Lamppin-Bohart Seattle, Wash.
As a passionate advocate for juveniles, I can't thank Matthew McConaughey enough for starting the j.k. livin Foundation. Our juveniles need these kinds of after-school programs to help them build self-esteem and stay out of trouble. I have always been a fan of McConaughey's movies, but I am even a bigger fan now for his dedication to our youth and his willingness to do something to help them.
Donna Yohman Summerville, S.C.
BELLA AND TARRA
There's an old saying that if women ruled the world, there would be peace on Earth. These two female animals are the embodiment of that adage.
Tania Anderson Reseda, Calif.
The extraordinary story of Bella and Tarra left me feeling happy and made my heart smile. Thanks, PEOPLE magazine—I needed that!

On May 12 Gerry and Kate McCann would have celebrated their daughter Madeleine's 6th birthday together. Sadly, as the world knows, their oldest child is still missing after disappearing two years ago while vacationing in Portugal (PEOPLE, May 28, 2007). But her parents, once suspects in the case (they were formerly cleared in July 2008), believe that Madeleine is still alive and have become advocates for a European version of the Amber Alert. Gerry, a cardiologist, is back at work, and Kate remains at home caring for their other children, twins Sean and Amelie, now 4. The McCanns have issued a photo of what Madeleine might look like today. "She could be speaking a different language or have different hair, but she's still our daughter," Kate said on a recent television documentary aired in Britain. The McCanns try to maintain a semblance of normality. "We're a happy family, but not a complete one," said Gerry.
