BIRTHS
Molly Ringwald, 41, who plays the mother of a pregnant teen on ABC Family's The Secret Life of the American Teenager, gave birth to Babies 2 and 3 with her husband, Panio Gianopoulos, 34, a writer and book editor, in L.A. July 10. The couple's daughter Adele Georgiana arrived first, followed three minutes later by twin brother Roman Stylianos. The new arrivals join big sister Mathilda Ereni, 5. • It's a boy for ex-Beverly Hills, 90210 star Jason Priestley, 39, and his wife of four years, makeup artist Naomi Lowde-Priestley, 33, who welcomed a baby in L.A. July 9. The couple, who have not revealed the newborn's name, also have daughter Ava, 2. • Oscar-winner Mira Sorvino, 41, and her husband, actor Christopher Backus, 28, became parents for the third time with the arrival of son Holden in L.A. June 22, the couple announced July 13. The couple, who wed in 2004, also have daughter Mattea, 4, and son Johnny, 3.

RECOVERING
Talk show host Rachael Ray (inset), 40, is resting at home after having a benign cyst removed from a vocal cord this month. Her rep says doctors declared the noninvasive procedure a success.

ANNOUNCED
Maura Tierney, 44, revealed July 13 that she will soon have surgery to remove a breast tumor. "My doctors have all assured me this is a very treatable condition," the former ER star said in a statement. Production of her fall NBC drama series Parenthood has been delayed due to her illness, but she added, "I look forward to going back to work soon."

RECONCILED
At the request of Medium actress Patricia Arquette, 41, an L.A. judge on July 9 dismissed the divorce case of the Emmy winner and her husband of three years, Thomas Jane, 40, star of HBO's Hung. She had filed in January to end her marriage to the actor, with whom she has daughter Harlow, 6.

NOMINATED
President Barack Obama named Dr. Regina Benjamin, 52—founder and CEO of Alabama's nonprofit Bayou La Batre Rural Health Clinic—as his choice for U.S. Surgeon General July 13. She gained national attention as a physician offering free medical care to uninsured Gulf Coast residents, many affected by Hurricane Katrina. "If there's anyone who understands the urgency of meeting [the challenge of health-care reform] in a personal and powerful way," said Obama, "it's the woman who will become our nation's next Surgeon General, Dr. Regina Benjamin." A Senate hearing is needed to confirm her nomination.
