A baby is on the way in 2010 for 2012 star Amanda Peet, 37, and her husband of three years, screenwriter and producer David Benioff, 39. This will be the second child for the couple, who have daughter Frances, 2.
Former Bachelor contestant Melissa Rycroft, 26, who was jilted on TV by the show's star Jason Mesnick in March, made it to the altar with insurance agent Tye Strickland, 28, in Isla Mujeres, Mexico, Dec. 12. The couple (inset), who met three years ago in their hometown, Dallas, became engaged in June.
Courtney Love, 45, has temporarily lost legal control of Frances Bean, 17, her daughter with late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain. On Dec. 12 an L.A. judge appointed temporary guardianship to Cobain's mother, Wendy O'Connor, 62, and his sister Kimberly Cobain, 39. Love, who has battle substance abuse in the past, "[has] been clean for years and is perfectly fine," says her attorney, who adds, "This is simply about Frances preferring to live with her grandmother at this time." A court hearing on the matter is set for Feb. 10. Authorities removed Frances from her mother in 2003 following Love's arrest for attempting to break into her ex-boyfriend's home. The rocker regained custody in 2005. • CSI: Miami star Jonathan Togo, 32, was arrested Dec. 12 on suspicion of domestic violence, following an alleged altercation with an unidentified girlfriend at his Hollywood Hills home. He was released eight hours later after posting $50,000 bail. A court date has not been set. • A grand jury indicted Jason Young, 35, for first-degree murder Dec. 14, three years after his pregnant 29-year-old wife, Michelle, was found brutally beaten to death in their Raleigh, N.C., home. Police, who now believe they have a strong enough case against him, say he had been involved in an extramarital affair and was uncooperative with detectives. His daughter Cassidy, now 5, was discovered in the house unharmed. Jason had been sharing custody of her with Michelle's sister Meredith Fisher since February.
Debonair leading man Gene Barry, 90, who starred on the western series Bat Masterson from 1958 to 1961, died of congestive heart failure in Woodland Hills, Calif., Dec. 9. He was also popular for his roles on the '60s shows Burke's Law and The Name of the Game.
ETHAN ZOHN: "CANCER FREE"
Survivor: Africa winner Ethan Zohn, 36, who chronicled his eight-month battle with Hodgkin's disease on People.com, revealed Dec. 10 that he had received "the best possible news" from his doctors two days earlier: A full-body PET scan showed no active cancer cells in his body. "If I walked in off the street today, they would think I'm cancer free," says the soccer player, who plans to have a stem-cell transplant this month to avoid a post-chemo resurgence of cancerous growths such as the one he experienced in September.
