Pearl Jam lead singer Eddie Vedder, 44, became engaged to his longtime girlfriend Jill McCormick, 32, Dec. 6 in Washington, D.C., according to E! News. The couple were in the nation's capital attending the Kennedy Center Honors gala, where Vedder performed as part of the tribute to honoree Bruce Springsteen. Vedder and McCormick have two daughters, Oliva, 5, and Harper Moon, 1.
Actress Amy Adams (Julie & Julia), and her fiancé, fellow thespian Darren Le Gallo, both 35, will welcome their first child next year. The couple, who met in an acting class, have been together for seven years and became engaged in July 2008. Adams told Entertainment Tonight that she's too "impatient" to discover the baby's sex in the delivery room. "I thought about waiting, and I just don't think that's really my personality," she said. "It's not about planning a nursery. . . . I just want to know."
Michelle Duggar, 43, star of TLC's 18 Kids and Counting, was rushed to a Little Rock hospital the weekend of Dec. 5-6 for treatment of a gall-bladder problem. "The pain from a gallstone was generating some contractions," says a network rep. To be safe, she was taken to the hospital, where the attending physician, Dr. Curtis Lowery, said, "We have every reason to expect that mother and baby will proceed with a healthy pregnancy. Mrs. Duggar is in good spirits and feeling much better."
Actor Ron Livingston (Office Space), 42, is suing an unknown Internet prankster who since last May has been changing the actor's Wikipedia page to incorrectly identify him as being gay and in a relationship with a fictitious man by the name of Lee Dennison. Livingston (inset), who married his Standoff costar Rosemarie DeWitt, 38, last month, filed suit Dec. 4 in L.A. superior court, charging libel, invasion of privacy and use of his name and likeness without permission.
Rivers Cuomo, 39, lead singer for the rock band Weezer, was injured on Dec. 6 when the group's tour bus hit a patch of black ice on a highway near Albany, N.Y., and plunged into a muddy ravine. The musician was hospitalized with three cracked ribs and other injuries but will not need surgery. Cuomo's wife, 2-year-old daughter and her nanny were also on the bus but were not hurt in the crash. Weezer has canceled the rest of this year's performances.
POLANSKI GOES HOME
Having served two months in jail since being arrested on an outstanding U.S. warrant, director Roman Polanski, 76, posted $4.5 million bail Dec. 4 and was released to home confinement at his chalet in Gstaad, Switzerland (inset). The filmmaker must wear an electronic monitoring device but can receive guests, make phone calls and send e-mails. Swiss authorities are deciding whether Polanski should be extradited to the U.S. to face sentencing in his 1977 sex case.
