ACTION

Few deliver four-letter words with more pizzazz than Travolta. He rifles off a slew of them in this over-the-top action romp—that is, when he's not snapping necks, tossing guys down stairwells and blowing away baddies with an oversize handgun nicknamed Mrs. Jones. The plot, concerning Travolta's renegade soldier of fortune teaming with Rhys Meyers' inexperienced intelligence operative to foil terrorists, is both absurd and unabashedly un-PC. Still, the film itself is mostly a lot of fun, thanks to Travolta. Firing off juicy lines with relish and looking more than credible in the cartoonish action sequences, he seems like he is having a blast, and his enthusiasm helps sell this testosterone-soaked trifle. It's also great to see the underbelly of Europe's most-beloved metropolis: The City of Light has never looked so deliciously grimy.

ROMANTIC COMEDY

There's plenty that's less than believable about this tale of Beth (Bell), a workaholic New Yorker who falls for a guest (Duhamel) at her sister's Roman wedding. Most of it is fun fantasy—especially the magic spell she accidentally casts on five men that has them chasing her around New York City in desperate attempts to win her love. Not so magical? The severe lack of chemistry between the two leads.

>John Travolta is just the newest member of the No-Hair Club for Men

MIKE MYERS IN AUSTIN POWERS

Even one meel-ion dollars couldn't buy hair for Dr. Evil—or his Mini-Me.

JEFF BRIDGES IN IRON MAN

The hero had the suit, the chicks and the mane. His nemesis? Zero for three.

TOM CRUISE IN TROPIC THUNDER

Bald + Tom Cruise + fat suit + hip-hop = the actor's funniest turn ever.

>COUPLES RETREAT

The new-to-DVD comedy about four couples on a trip to Bora Bora (with real-life buddies Vince Vaughn, Jason Bateman and Jon Favreau) goes down like one of those cheesy tropical cocktails. A welcome midwinter escape, minus the mini umbrella.

>• The actress, 41, earned raves at the film fest with the adoption drama Mother and Child.

GOOD TO BE BACK AT SUNDANCE?

The first time I came, I handed out flyers, trying to get people to come see our short film. Actually, I was accosting people and trying to drag them in!

ANY SURPRISES WORKING WITH SAMUEL L. JACKSON?

I was blown away. I only knew him from his movies. He's just a total gentleman, a really tender person. He really took care of me.

YOU'RE HEADING OFF TO FILM IN TORONTO. DO THE KIDS COME WITH YOU?

It's quite difficult taking kids [Alexander, 2, and Samuel, 14 months] out of their routine. I've got it in my schedule that I only shoot four days in a row so I can go back [home to New York City]. But we'll mix it up.

>The quirky director's take on the tale opens March 5. Says producer Richard Zanuck: "No one else could imagine this."

CRAZY CREATURES

The Dodo (left), Cheshire Cat and other computer-animated critters "all have their own stories."

THE MILD SIDE

Johnny Depp's Mad Hatter doesn't go too insane in the kid-friendly film. "It's not dark," says Zanuck. "It's very magical."

ROYAL PAINS

The Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter, above) and White Queen squabble "like high schoolers. It's juvenile fun."

>• She played dumb in Mean Girls, sang in Mamma Mia! and makes 'em weep in the new drama Dear John. The actress, 24, talks movies that move her.

MOVIE THAT INSPIRED ME TO ACT

Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes in Romeo + Juliet are the reason I'm in this career. I definitely remember the moment when I was like, "I'm obsessed with this."

SEXIEST MOVIE

Dirty Dancing. I don't know why it's so sexy. I think because it's so innocent at first, and then she abandons everything to be with this hot dancer.

FAVORITE TEARJERKER

Anytime someone comes to the door [with bad news]. Like My Girl. Bad, bad. That's a lot of crying.

MOVIE THAT MAKES ME SWOON

Everything about Pride & Prejudice with Keira Knightley was beautiful. I really believed it.

BOYFRIEND MOVIE

I watch classic movies with my boyfriend [actor Dominic Cooper]. I just saw Taxi Driver for the first time! What was I missing?
