Jamie Lynn Spears on the Rebound
SO LONG, CASEY ... HELLO, NEW BEAU!
Nearly two years after welcoming daughter Maddie Briann, Britney Spears
' younger sister, Jamie Lynn, 18, has split from boyfriend (and Maddie's dad) Casey Aldridge. Now Spears is already off the market! She's dating Louisiana businessman James "Jamie" Watson, who's 10 years her senior. "Jamie Lynn did a lot of growing up, but Casey didn't," says a source. "She was tired of the situation." So a few weeks ago Spears and Maddie moved out of the Liberty, Miss., home she and Aldridge, 20, shared. They're now living with her mother, Lynne. "It's been painful," says a family friend. "She's a young mother and struggling in a lot of areas. It's really heartbreaking for Maddie." But Spears' romance with Watson—a registered Republican whom sources describe as a laid-back joker—may be just the thing she needs. Says the family friend: "He seems to be a nice guy."
She's found her 'boo'!
Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, 22, the nightclubbing star of MTV's Jersey Shore
, tells Scoop exclusively that she's "very happy" with Emilio Masella, 21, a Gold's Gym personal trainer who lives in Connecticut, whom she refers to as her "boo" on Twitter. The pair visited Westbury, N.Y.'s Glo Nightclub on Feb. 6—owner John Smythe says "they were holding hands and were very lovey-dovey." The next day they took their PDAs on the road to Miami, where they hit a Super Bowl party at Finnegan's River. Says Jerry Montanari, an owner of the gym where Masella works: "It seems like he genuinely cares for this girl."
Charlie Sheen & Brooke Mueller
Talk about mixed marital messages: On Feb. 8, an Aspen judge formally charged Charlie Sheen, 44, with felony menacing, third-degree assault and criminal mischief stemming from a Christmas night fight with wife Brooke Mueller, 32—but also modified a restraining order, allowing the couple to speak to one another. Sheen's attorney Richard Cummins says,"They're heading to California to work on their issues and take care of their children." And a source confirms they'll return to their L.A. home. Sheen's due back in court March 15.
MAKING A SPLASH!
Tennis pro Andy Roddick isn't the jealous type. When his wife of 10 months, Brooklyn Decker, landed the cover of SPORTS ILLUSTRATED's Swimsuit Issue, "he was so proud," she tells Scoop. Decker, 22, who was shot in the Maldives by famed sports photographer Walter Iooss, says she's "shocked and so excited to be among healthy, powerful women like Elle Macpherson," who inspired her cover look, which she calls "super-flirty, but not in-your-face sexy." Is Roddick, 27, even a little uncomfortable with strangers ogling his wife? "No," says Decker. "I think this gives him a one-up in the locker room!"
IS MEG RYAN BEHIND TIM & SUSAN'S SPLIT?
Following Susan Sarandon's surprise split in December from her partner of 23 years, Tim Robbins, 51, the actress, 63, has been linked to Jonathan Bricklin, 32, a fellow investor in New York City's SPiN table-tennis club. Now it's Robbins' turn: A tabloid claims that he and actress Meg Ryan, 48, "had been quietly hooking up ... off and on for years."
IT'S ALL RELATIVE!
RYAN SEACREST'S SISTER MEREDITH?...
SHE'S IN TV TOO!
Seacrest's little sis, 29, is a producer on the new MTV show The Buried Life
The early years
"As kids we'd play CNN, or I would pretend I was Madonna
or Cyndi Lauper, and Ryan would interview me. He was always very creative."
He keeps her laughing
"When I was little, the rule was that I couldn't tell on my big brother if he made me laugh, and he would always make me laugh."
They always check in
"I'll do dinner with him usually once a week, and we e-mail or text at least once a day."
It's all who you're related to in Hollywood! Using DNA analysis and old-fashioned digging, a PBS series unearths some celeb-lineage surprises
People often ask Eva Longoria
Parker if she's a first- or second-generation American. "I'm 15th," she says, after learning her ancestors arrived before the Mayflower. The new PBS series Faces of America
(debuting Feb. 10) reveals facts about 12 celebrities that surprised even them. Relying on paper trails and the commercial DNA lab 23andMe, Harvard's Henry Louis Gates Jr. presents each subject with family trees dating back, in some cases, to the 5th century. Some were found to be distant cousins, confirming, as author Malcolm Gladwell put it, "it really is a small world after all."
Streep, 60, whose lineage includes a cousin by marriage of William Penn, shares genes with her four-time director Nichols—himself a cousin of Einstein and (far more distantly) Dr. Oz. Nichols' reaction? "Far out!"
The Colbert Report
host, 45, shares an ancestor with President Obama's Inauguration Day poet (and Colbert guest) Elizabeth Alexander. She learned she's 66 percent European—and a 24th great-grandfather was King of England!
Shocked to discover her ancestral tie to famed Chinese-American cellist Yo-Yo Ma, the Desperate Housewives
star, 34, jokes, "He's Mexican?"
SUPER BOWL PARTY TIME!
Talk about a star-studded Super Bowl weekend! Nick Lachey
kicked off the festivities in Miami Feb. 5, cohosting the 3rd annual Super Skins Celebrity Golf Classic. That night Jessica Alba
and Hilary Swank caught up at Audi's cocktail party, and later on Wyclef Jean jammed with Queen Latifah
at the Florida Room at Delano. The next night Audrina Patridge and beau Ryan Cabrera cuddled at the Maxim
fete. Following the big game, Kenny Chesney performed at a late-night Saints victory bash at the Intercontinental Hotel.
