BACHELOR JAKE
"Was I the only one cheering for Jake to choose Vienna? Their chemistry was off the charts!"
Rebecca Bigsby
Wayne, N.J.
I am so happy Jake chose Vienna! Those two had so much heat together, my plasma TV was melting. I watched every second of The Bachelor and still haven't figured out why there was so much anger directed toward Vienna. The only mistake she made was in gushing to the other girls about the time she spent with Jake. After that, they all saw her as a threat.

It's sad that so many people are disappointed over Jake's decision. I really liked Vienna and I'm not the only one. Why do people think they can make a better choice for Jake than the man himself? He didn't change overnight; he's still the great guy we got to know when he was on The Bachelorette.

MILITARY DOG HOSPITAL
As someone who raises puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind, I enjoyed the story about our canine soldiers and the hospital built to assist in their recoveries. It's a great change from the old view that these dogs are dispensable. They are saving soldiers' lives and truly deserve to be treated like heroes.

SHAUN WHITE
We loved the article on Olympic gold medalist Shaun White. My 2-year-old son, Jack, has the same congenital heart defect as Shaun, and like him has undergone open heart surgery. Shaun has been an inspiration to us since my son's diagnosis, and it was incredible to watch him win the gold at this year's Olympics. A big thank-you to Shaun for doing what he loves so well, from us and all the "heart" families.

BOATING TRAGEDY
Nick Schuyler was one of the last people that was ever with my husband, Marquis Cooper. I'm hurt that he's putting everything out there so publicly (in a book). The other day, my 4-year-old daughter asked me if we were going up to heaven soon. I told her that we probably weren't going for a long time, but that someday we would be there with Daddy. She began to cry and said, "But Mommy, I can't wait that long." I struggle daily to create a safe and love-filled life for our child. It appears as if Mr. Schuyler lacks the compassion that a 4-year-old learning to live without her dad deserves and the respect for the private time a family needs to heal. I will continue to honor Marquis by dedicating myself to my faith in God and striving to be the very best mom I can be for Delaney. Rest in peace, Marquis.

UPDATE
ORCA OUTRAGE
Readers had strong opinions about the controversy surrounding the death of animal trainer Dawn Brancheau, who was killed Feb. 24 while performing with the orca Tilikum at SeaWorld Orlando. Several people agreed with Anna Chilewska of Edmonton, Alta., who asked, "Should giant marine animals be kept in captivity for entertainment? The answer is, 'Absolutely no!'" Saddened by the tragedy at the marine park, Sanja Geise of Waterloo, Wis., wrote, "Please, send the orcas back to the sea. They are not called killer whales for nothing." Officials at SeaWorld Orlando say no decision has been made about whether Tilikum will resume performing in shows.
Corrections
In our March 22 issue, we said that Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger retired in Charlotte, Va. The private ceremony was held in Charlotte, N.C. In the TV Reviews section of the same issue, we misspelled the name of The Pacific actor Joseph Mazzello in a caption. We regret these errors.
