Following Tiger's Comeback ...

ELIN'S 'BEATEN DOWN'

After a five-month hiatus, and amid new tabloid reports of yet another affair, Tiger Woods, 34, finished a respectable fourth in his comeback at the Masters Golf Tournament April 11 (Phil Mickelson won; see box). But wife Elin, 30, wasn't there to see it. Back home in Windermere, Fla., "she didn't even turn on the TV," a friend tells Scoop, "because the last thing she wanted to see was his face." On April 7 another report emerged alleging her husband had previously strayed with a 22-year-old neighbor. On top of that, Elin became "violently angry," a source says, about her husband's new Nike television spot, in which the voice of his late father, Earl, asks, "Did you learn anything?" as Woods stares into the camera. (The out-of-context sound bite was reportedly culled from a 2004 documentary.) "She just hates it," the friend says. "She thought it was disgusting that he would use his infidelity to sell shoes." And Elin's stressors aren't limited to her marriage. Her mother, Barbro Holmberg, was reportedly treated at an undisclosed location in the U.S. for a serious illness last week. (Holmberg's secretary denied this to Swedish newspaper Expressen, saying she's home and "not ill at all.") Elin, who was spotted boarding a plane April 11, "seems beaten down," says the friend, and may be ready to move on. Adds the friend: "She's so far beyond hurt now, she's numb. She's mourned the loss of this marriage."

GOLF'S INSPIRATIONAL MARRIAGE

When Phil Mickelson snagged his third Masters title April 11, his wife, Amy, was right there. For Amy, 37, who's been fighting breast cancer since last May, and Mickelson, 39 (whose mother, Mary, was also diagnosed with the disease last year), it was a joyous moment. "She's an incredible wife and an incredible mother," said Mickelson, dedicating his win to Amy. "She has been an inspiration for me this past year. To cap it off with this victory, I can't put it into words."

Glee's Jane Lynch ...

ENGAGED!

Jane Lynch has something her Glee character, meanie head coach Sue Sylvester doesn't: true love. After months of speculation, the actress, 49, confirms that she's engaged to psychologist Lara Embry, 40. "It's just the greatest thrill in the world to find somebody that you want to be with every day," she tells PEOPLE.

Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon

E-MAIL: MY CHEATING HUSBAND

After Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon, 43, discovered her husband, agent Michael Nilon, had allegedly cheated, she e-mailed his colleagues at Hollywood agency CAA: "[He's] been having an affair with some slut in Chicago." On April 9 the star said, "My focus...is on my kids [Jax and Jaid, 2] and healing." Nilon has moved out of their home.

Inside Britney Spears'

EMOTIONAL ROLLER-COASTER

First a somber frozen yogurt date with boyfriend Jason Trawick. The next day Britney Spears was seen crying while driving. But on April 11 she was all smiles on her way to a Palm Springs party. What gives? "She's only happy when her sons are with her," a source tells Scoop. "Other days she's an emotional wreck." Not true, maintains another source: "She had a really busy week. She's back in the studio. She went to [a party] to have some fun. She and [Trawick] are on and off all the time. She's just living her life."

Miley's Ex Justin Gaston

IT'S KIND OF 'AWKWARD' BETWEEN US

It's been almost a year since Justin Gaston, 21, split with Miley Cyrus, 17, and while he says they're "still friends," don't expect to see them hanging out. "She's got a new boyfriend, so that might be a little awkward!" he laughs, referring to Miley's romance with actor Liam Hemsworth. "[But] Miley is a great girl." As for his love life? The singer and star of the reality web show If I Can Dream (he's also performing with Brooke White on American Idol April 14) says with a sigh: "Being in a relationship is like a full-time job; I'm just going to do the music thing!"
