Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez: PDAs in Paris
When Halle Berry flew to South Africa at the end of July to begin filming Dark Tide, all eyes were on her and ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, who accompanied Berry to care for their 2½-year-old daughter Nahla. Speculation of a reconciliation swirled, but the focus quickly shifted to Berry, 44, and her French costar Olivier Martinez, also 44, when the two were spotted looking close on-set. A month later, shooting moved to London; then, on Sept. 5, Berry and Martinez jetted to his native France for a romantic rendezvous in Paris, where they spent the afternoon walking through a flea market. "She had a huge smile on her face, arms around each other, smiling the whole time. You thought 'couple' immediately," says an onlooker. After a brief stop at Martinez's apartment, the lovebirds resumed exploring the City of Light and stopped to have a drink with his younger brother Vincent, before dining at the intimate Casa Bini restaurant. Then Martinez led Berry on a tour of the St. Germain district. "You could see he was telling her about Paris," continues the source. "There were little affectionate moves between them ... little kisses." Has Berry found a new man? She hasn't given up on love after splitting from Aubry. "I'm not done with love, but I refuse to settle," she recently told Vogue. "I am a hopeless romantic."
IDOL'S MUSICAL CHAIRS
Even after warming to her judge's seat after two seasons on American Idol, songwriter Kara DioGuardi admitted to reporters in May, "I always felt like I was a contestant on the show rather than a judge." Now, four months later, DioGuardi has exited the show for good, saying in a statement, "I won the lottery when I joined American Idol two years ago, but I feel like now is the best time to leave Idol." According to one source, DioGuardi "really didn't want to be there anymore, and the show was clearly moving in a different direction." Meanwhile, it's almost certain Jennifer Lopez will join the show. "Both J.Lo and Marc Anthony are very excited about her being a judge," a source tells Scoop.
NO BABY SCARE FOR CELINE
Amid rumors that she was having complications with her pregnancy, the singer and her family appeared on the cover of Canadian magazine 7 Jours. Dion, 42, and husband René Angélil will welcome twin boys in November; their son René-Charles is 9. Dion's rep assures Scoop: "Her pregnancy continues to be healthy and she feels fantastic."
SEPT. 6 Although she was busted for cocaine possession on Aug. 27, Paris Hilton's legal worries were an ocean away as she and boyfriend Cy Waits frolicked in Hawaii over Labor Day weekend. Following the couple's arrest in Vegas (he for DUI), the heiress has since been banned from the Wynn and Encore resorts, while Waits was let go from his job as a nightlife executive at the hotels. Hilton faces an Oct. 27 arraignment.
THE DATING GAME
It was a double dose of date night for Jennifer Aniston. On Sept. 1 the actress, 41, was spotted at the Sunset Tower Hotel laughing at a corner table with a mystery man, which reports claim was Hard Rock Hotel heir Harry Morton, 29. The next night it was a different guy and a different place. Aniston, who just wrapped filming a guest spot on BFF Courteney Cox Arquette's Cougar Town, dined at Madeo in Beverly Hills with one of the show's stars, Josh Hopkins, 40. "There was a flirty energy," says an eyewitness. "Jen looked very happy."
Sisters are doing it for themselves! Elizabeth Olsen, 21, emerged from the shadow of famous siblings Mary-Kate and Ashley when she was recently cast as a girl escaping a cult in Martha Marcy May Marlene. (Also look for her next year as Jane Fonda's granddaughter in Peace, Love & Misunderstanding.) Dakota Fanning's sister Elle, 12, lit up the Venice Film Festival in Sofia Coppola's Somewhere. Says Coppola: "She's so natural."
TALES FROM YALE
It's not like James Franco has nothing going on this fall. The Date Night actor, 32, now onscreen in Eat Pray Love, has Howl coming out Sept. 24 and 127 Hours in November. Add to that crowded dance card enrolling in a six-year English Ph.D. at Yale. Franco has been seen in New Haven coffee shops in a plaid shirt and beanie. He joins a long list of stars who have attended the Ivies, including Natalie Portman (Harvard) and Claire Danes (also Yale).
SERVES FOUR DAYS IN JAIL
Chris Klein not only spent two months in rehab, he also served four days in jail on his own accord following a second drunk-driving arrest on June 16 (his first was in 2005). "I apologize for my wrongdoing, and I really appreciate that the court gave me the opportunity to prove how seriously I took all of this," the American Pie star told Judge David B. Gelfound on Sept. 3. Klein, 31, was also sentenced to four years' probation.
BIKINI BACK & FORTH!
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Just one day after Demi Moore posted a photo of her bikini-clad bod on Twitter, Lisa Rinna followed suit, tweeting, "Doin' the Demi! Power to the 47-year-olds!" The identically aged actress calls the ageless Moore "my idol." Is a Hollywood trend afoot? Calling fellow 47-year-old Elle Macpherson-time to update your Twitter!
