Lindsay Lohan, 24, is going to rely on a jury of her peers. The Mean Girls actress, who is accused of stealing a gold necklace from a Venice, Calif., store in January, rejected a plea deal that included time in the slammer and has instead opted for a trial. "Ms. Lohan is innocent," said her attorney, Shawn Holley, "and we are confident that a jury will listen to the evidence fairly and acquit her." If convicted Lohan could go to prison for up to three years. • A judge has rejected Charlie Sheen's attempt to stop Warner Bros. and Chuck Lorre, 58, from bringing his lawsuit against them to arbitration. The dismissed Two and a Half Men star stated in a March 23 filing to the Los Angeles Superior Court that Warner Bros. kicked him off the hit show "in order to placate Mr. Lorre's enormous ego and irrational personal animus against" him. Warner Bros. and Lorre's side deny the charge, blaming the show's hiatus and problems on Sheen, 45 (inset). • Former New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor, 52, has avoided jail and received six years probation in return for pleading guilty to sexual misconduct and patronizing an underage prostitute. The teenage girl, who was only identified by the initials C.F., stated outside New York's Rockland County Courthouse, "I am not a prostitute. I am a victim, and I am hurting. I don't think the sentence given to Mr. Taylor is fair." Taylor must now also be registered as a sex offender.
Celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe is a mom. Zoe, 39, went into labor on March 22 and gave birth to son Skyler Morrison. She then tweeted how she and husband Rodger Berman, 42, "literally couldn't be happier with little Skyler Morrison in our arms." • There is going to be baby food on the menu at Top Chef Tom Colicchio's home. Colicchio, 48, and wife Lori Silverbush, 42, had a son on March 22 with the arrival of Mateo Lev, who joins brother Luka, 1, as well as Dante, 17, from Colicchio's previous relationship. • Design Star judge Vern Yip, 42, is a dad again. He and his partner welcomed daughter Vera Lillian Beatrix, via a surrogate, on March 12.
Grammy-winning bluesman Pinetop Perkins, who performed with Muddy Waters, was admired by the likes of B.B. King and reportedly taught Ike Turner to play the piano, died in Austin at age 97. • Dorothy Young, the last surviving stage assistant of illusionist Harry Houdini, died March 20 in Tinton Falls, N.J., at age 103. Young joined Houdini's show at age 17, and in one trick a scantily clad Young magically emerged from a large radio and did the Charleston.
JUSTICE FOR TYLER
Jane and Joseph Clementi, the parents of Tyler, 18 (left), the Rutgers student who committed suicide Sept. 22 after roommate Dharun Ravi, 19, allegedly filmed him being intimate with another man, issued a statement March 22. Without seeking "harsh treatment" for Ravi and classmate Molly Wei, 19, they said they would like the case to move forward. The Clementis' lawyer, Paul Mainardi, noted, "We feel it is important to establish accountability." Neither Ravi nor Wei have been indicted, and Mainardi hopes the prosecutor will submit the case to the grand jury.
