"At one point I weighed myself every day to make sure I stayed under a certain weight. Now I can't remember the last time I weighed myself. As long as I'm a size 4, stay healthy and look in the mirror and think I look great, then that's it for me. When the negative comments about my body came out [in 2008], it was hard to bounce back-especially when you're on a show where you have to wear skimpy outfits and there's no airbrushing. But I'm a curvy woman; these are my hip bones and that's where they are going to be. When I'm on the show, I'm so active I can eat what I want. It's also important for me to keep in shape off season, so I run a few miles a day and do Jazzercise. And if I'm not working out, I try to stay away from carbs!"
The Young and the Restless
Age: 31 Height: 5'5" Size: 8
"My mom [actress Cybill Shepherd] thinks I'm perfect and beautiful. When I was a size 2-my thinnest-I thought, 'I'm so fat. I hate my body.' But then I got into spinning and yoga, and it's become less about 'Oh, I feel disgusting' and more about 'Look what I can do! I can stand on my head and put myself into a pretzel.' It's changed my relationship to my body. Now I enjoy my body more than I did then. I'm a vegan. I eat a lot of vegetables, rice and beans, and nuts. My go-to meal is roasted yams with cauliflower and zucchini. But I'm the only person I know who gained weight as a vegan, because I love vegan cookies and cupcakes. But being comfortable is my No. 1 goal. Whether I'm 20 lbs. lighter or heavier, I just want to be happy."
Age: 27 Height: 5'7" Size: 2
"My body is athletic. I'm almost 130 lbs., and a lot of it is muscle. I'm not going to have beautiful curves or Kim Kardashian's body. I just have to accept that. I used to play basketball, and everything was about power and getting stronger. Now it's not about being big and powerful; I work out to tone and stay lean. The women in the original series and the movies were awesome, so there's a little bit of pressure to live up to them. I work out at least four to five times a week, but I like to try and get in the gym every day. I feel my best when I go to the gym. I feel prettier and sexier."
Age: 42 Height: 4'11" Size: 4
"I'm small, but I'm not a stick. I'm a 32C on top and wear a small bottom, but I have curves. The wrong suit can make me look squatty. But being petite is part of who I am. Occasionally I shop at GapKids. I can wear a size 12-14. It's kind of fun. But the older I get, the more thoughtful I am about exercise and food. When I'm on Broadway, I don't have to work out because I'm dancing and singing. The cardio is instantaneous. Lately I've been doing cardio and light weights. I have to force myself to go to the gym. But if I exercise I can get away with eating more. I now try not to eat past 6 p.m. I'm not one to deny myself dessert, though; I just share it so I don't feel like I'm missing out."
Beach volleyball pro
Age: 29 Height: 6'1" Size: 10
"My legs are bigger than the normal person's, but I just have to remind myself that if they weren't big I wouldn't be able to jump so high. I battle with that idea in my head a lot: skinny versus strong. Sizes 2 and 4 are model sizes, so that glamorizes those specific numbers, but people forget that it can be very unhealthy to be small if it's not right for your body. I'm 6'1", so I would have to not eat if I ever wanted to be a size 2. I'm a size 10, I work out every day and eat healthy, so I know it's where my body should be and I feel like I'm in great shape."
