GEORGE CLOONEY

A classic tux. A sleek motorboat. That end-of-summer tan. Ah yes, George Clooney's appearance at the Venice Film Festival was, as always, molto perfetto. In town to promote his political thriller The Ides of March, Clooney, 50, arrived in style on Sept. 1 with pals Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber in tow-fresh from a weekend spent boating and celebrating at his Lake Como villa with friends and the movie's cast. Nowhere in sight: Dancing with the Stars alum Stacy Keibler, with whom Clooney was linked earlier this summer. Despite Keibler's Sept. 3 Twitter post-"Ladies, if he doesn't make you a priority, then explore your options"-their romance is still on, says a source. Joking with reporters in Venice, the bellissimo bachelor came up with a new title for himself: "AARP's Sexiest Man Still Alive."

GWYNETH PALTROW

Paltrow (in Prada) said it'll be a while before she lets her children see Contagion, about a killer virus. "My kids can't even watch Babe!"

LAURENCE FISHBURNE

A costar in Contagion, Fishburne took in the ancient palazzi lining the Venetian lagoon before joining his wife, actress Gina Torres, at the movie's premiere.

MADONNA

Madonna (in Vionnet) directed W.E., about Wallis Simpson and King Edward VIII. Asked if she'd abdicate a throne for a man-or woman-she replied, "I think I can have both. Or all three!"

KATE WINSLET

Winslet, star of three films at the festival-Carnage, Mildred Pierce and Contagion-earned some of the red carpet's biggest wows in an optical illusion dress by Stella McCartney.

MATT DAMON

Bald for his next movie, Elysium, Matt Damon poses with wife Luciana at the Contagion premiere.

SALMA HAYEK

The actress, alongside husband Francois-Henri Pinault, wore Gucci Premiere to the label's Women in Cinema awards gala.

KEIRA KNIGHTLEY

Knightley (in Valentino Couture) won raves for her work as a troubled woman in A Dangerous Method.
