Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir, 27, married his boyfriend, Georgetown law grad Victor Voronov, 28, on Dec. 30 in New York City, exchanging handwritten vows in a small civil ceremony attended by family. According to his rep, Weir will keep his name professionally, but the couple will use the surname Weir-Voronov and plan to celebrate this summer with a larger wedding ceremony with family and friends. "Marrying Victor has been the greatest moment of my life," says Weir. "I am so happy to have found my match."

Actress Salma Hayek Pinault, 45, will be made a knight in the French Legion d'Honneur. French president Nicolas Sarkozy, 56, included her in his New Year's list for her accomplishments as a director and producer and for her active charitable work. Other actors who have earned the honor include Clint Eastwood, 81, and Robert Redford, 75.Actress Helena Bonham Carter, 45, who played Queen Elizabeth II's mother in 2010's The King's Speech, was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire by the Queen in her New Year Honors. Carter joked that "I am wondering does it mean I get to command," since her and partner Tim Burton's daughter Nell, 4, "does the commanding in our household. Must inform her of the change in situation."

Actress Rebecca Gayheart, 39, and Grey's Anatomy's Eric Dane, 39, welcomed Georgia Geraldine on Dec. 28. She joins Billie Beatrice, 1, and according to Gayheart's rep, "is thrilled to be a big sister. Dad is getting ready to live in a house full of ladies."

English Olympics fencer Bob Anderson, who coached such actors as Errol Flynn in how to wield a sword in movies ranging from The Princess Bride to The Lord of the Rings, died Jan. 1 in England at age 89. It was Anderson who donned Darth Vader's black helmet and cloak in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi for the light-saber battles with Luke Skywalker.

Grammy Award-winning soul singer Aretha Franklin announced that she and longtime friend William Wilkerson, 64, plan to wed in June or July in Miami Beach. Franklin, 69, joked, "No, I'm not pregnant, LOL!" Over the Christmas weekend basketball star Michael Jordan, 48, proposed to his girlfriend, model Yvette Prieto, 33. This will be Jordan's second marriage. Musician Cactus Moser, 54, meanwhile asked country crooner Wynonna Judd, 47, to marry him. And at a New Year's Eve party in Miami Beach, Miami Heat forward LeBron James, 27, popped the question to his high school sweetheart Savannah Brinson, 25, in front of their two children, LeBron Jr., 7, and Bryce, 4. After she said yes, James happily twirled around his kids.
