HEATHER LOCKLEAR 'OUT OF CONTROL'
For those close to Heather Locklear, the news was not unexpected: On Jan. 12 the actress was taken to the hospital after reportedly consuming a dangerous mixture of pills and alcohol. "Everybody knew she was in trouble," says a source who knows the actress, adding that her family and ex-husband, musician Richie Sambora, 52, with whom she has a daughter, Ava, 14, had been "monitoring the situation" since her split from longtime boyfriend Jack Wagner last fall. Celebrating her 50th birthday in September also amplified her anxiety. "She's so, so insecure," a friend says of the actress. "She's obsessed with her looks."
Though sources don't believe the near overdose was intentional, one says "she seemed to be spiraling out of control" since splitting from Wagner, 52, who had just proposed in August. "She was desperate to hold on to him." During their relationship, Wagner tried to keep a handle on her issues-she sought treatment for anxiety and depression in 2008 and was arrested for DUI that same year-but it was a struggle. "Heather had always been a big drinker and she'd been functioning for so many years, she didn't think she had a problem," says the friend. "Once she started dating Jack, he didn't want people around her that were contributing to that behavior, but he assumed everyone around her was like that." Over time "she seemed disconnected," says the friend. "She ended up with not many people to lean on." Though the friend says Locklear tries to shelter Ava, her daughter seemed aware of this incident, tweeting, "It's going to get worse before it gets better." However, adds the friend, "Ava was never in any danger." For now Locklear is "weighing her options," says the source, who thinks she may opt for rehab with prodding from family. "She has some very good people around her right now. She's figuring out what to do next."
KATY & RUSSELL MOVING ON-AND OUT
Nearly two weeks after Russell Brand, 36, filed for divorce from Katy Perry, 27, the newly blue-haired singer has finally stepped back into the public eye, first at an Adidas shoot in Santa Barbara, Calif., Jan. 12, and again Jan. 16 at LAX, where she flew to Indonesia to perform one of two concerts in southeast Asia. Meanwhile Brand returned to L.A. from London Jan. 13, one day after a moving truck brought items from the couple's home to a house in West Hollywood, where he spent the weekend. Asked at a Jan. 15 press conference for his upcoming FX series Strangely Uplifting if he was happy, he replied, "Yes, I am."

Moore was sitting with daughter Rumer Willis, 23, and Madonna, 53, when Kutcher arrived and chatted up Willis for a reported 20 minutes before moving on.
