JOHNNY DEPP & VANESSA PARADIS
A WORLD APART
Since PEOPLE reported last week that Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis's 13-year partnership is near an end, they have spent their days much as they have for the past two years: living separate lives often on separate coasts. Paradis, 39, returned to her native France, where the singer-actress visited friends and family and attended the Paris premiere of her new film, the family drama Café de Flore. Paradis walked the carpet alone (she and Depp haven't been to a red carpet event together in over a year) and stayed close to sister Alysson, 29, also an actress. "She is relieved to be in Paris," says a source. Meanwhile, since his solo appearance at the Golden Globes Jan. 15, Depp, 48, has been lying low in L.A., where the couple live with children Lily-Rose, 12, and Jack, 9. The actor, who starts shooting The Lone Ranger in New Mexico in February, was spotted in Hollywood driving a luxury sports car. Not surprisingly, he was alone.
KRISTIN CAVALLARI & JAY CUTLER
'Excited for This Bun in the Oven!'
The football season may not have ended the way Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, 28, had hoped, but he and fiancee Kristin Cavallari, 25, are making it a memorable year in other ways. "We are thrilled to announce we are expecting our first child together," the couple tell Scoop. "We can't wait to meet the new addition (or "bun in the oven" as the actress playfully tweeted) to our growing family." The couple called off their engagement in July but reconciled in November.
JAY-Z & WARREN BUFFETT
A TRUE BROMANCE!
On Jan. 18 Jay-Z, 42, celebrated the relaunch of his 40/40 Club with good pal and financial whiz Warren Buffett, 81, in New York City. A source tells Scoop, "Beyoncé stayed home with Blue Ivy," but the new mom would be proud to know that Jay made Buffett feel at home with the mostly young, hip crowd.
PRINCE WILLIAM & KATE'S
ISLAND GETAWAY: MUSTIQUE!
Britain's most famous RAF pilot, whose six-week tour of duty in the Falkland Islands begins in February, met up with his bride at one of their favorite sun-kissed hideaways: the West Indies island of Mustique (population: 500). This time Will, 29, and Kate, 30, were accompanied by her parents, Carole, 57, and Michael, 62, and siblings Pippa, 28, and James, 24.
MEET BELLA'S NEW BEAU!
It may have been Connor Cruise's 17th birthday party, but Tom Cruise's daughter Bella, 19, also had something to celebrate. At Connor's Jan. 18 bash at Hyde Lounge at L.A.'s Staples Center, Bella introduced her new "boyfriend," Eddie Frencher, an indie musician in his early 20s and fellow longtime Scientologist. The evening festivities included dancing, video games and taking in a Clippers vs. Mavericks game where, a partygoer tells PEOPLE, the new couple were "together the whole night."
RIDING IN STYLE
Connor, known as DJ C-Squared, spun tunes at his party, which raised money for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. His own wish came true when California Superstores presented him with a variety of cars he can drive over the next couple of years (right).
JANE CARREY'S IDOL AUDITION!
Even already famous kids want to be American Idols! At Jim Carrey's daughter Jane Carrey's audition-which aired on Jan. 21-J. Lo, 43, told the 24-year-old she had "a pretty voice" after she sang Bonnie Raitt's "Something to Talk About." Jim, 50, yelled, "Yay!" on the phone when she told him she was going to Hollywood.
LIKE MODEL, LIKE DAUGHTER
Kaia Gerber, 10, is the star of the new kids line young Versace-and her mom, model Cindy Crawford, 45, is "so proud of her!" (Dad is entrepreneur Randy Gerber, 49.) Adds creative director Donatella Versace: "Like her mother, Kaia has a very special gift. The camera really, really loves her."
Paula Turns 65!
After her controversial diabetes revelation last week, Paula Deen "needed something like this party to cheer her up," says a guest at her 65th-birthday party Jan. 19 at a former rice plantation in South Carolina. Surrounded by family and friends, Deen was overheard telling a guest, "I can't believe how mean people can be," about her diabetes. A source said Deen, who is committed to healthier eating, "didn't put a thing in her mouth," while others dined on crab cakes, quail with grits and collard green egg rolls.
