WILLIAM & KATE

'I MISS HIM'

They were just settling into married-life routine-royal appearances, their home in North Wales and a new cocker spaniel puppy-before Prince William, 29, left for a six-week tour of duty on search-and-rescue operations in the remote Falkland Islands (pop. 3,000), about 7,500 miles away. "I miss him so much when he's away," Kate, 30, told a fellow military wife last year, although they can Skype or send an "e-bluey," a service offered by the British Forces Post Office that prints and delivers e-mails from loved ones on old-fashioned airmail letter paper. The Duchess of Cambridge has her own updates to share. On Feb. 1 she made a private visit to Clouds House, a treatment center run by one of her charities. She is also set to join Queen Elizabeth, 85, for outings as she learns the ropes from the monarch, who is marking her 60th year on the throne. The couple are philosophical about the parting and know friends "who go for months without seeing each other," a pal says. Adds a source close to them: "It's symptomatic of service life."

THEY'RE BIG IN ...

THE SHINE ON THESE STARS IS TARNISHED (AND THEIR STATESIDE APPEARANCE FEES REFLECT THAT), BUT ABROAD THEY'RE STILL FAMOUS AS EVER!

GERMANY

LINDSAY LOHAN, 25

In 2007 Las Vegas club PURE offered her $200,000 to host her 21st-birthday party. A few years (and some jail time) later, "she's in the $50,000 range, but no one is booking her," a source says. "She isn't worth the risk." In Germany her wild-child reputation is "appealing," says an industry insider. "A lot of Germans find that fascinating."

DUBAI

KIM KARDASHIAN, 31

Despite her scandalous divorce, the reality star can still earn up to $200,000 per event and more overseas where "her Armenian roots make her a huge draw," says a source. The full effect of the backlash has yet to hurt her wallet. Another insider says the drama may have helped her: "She retreated from the spotlight, making her more valuable when she appears."

THE PHILIPPINES

PARIS HILTON, 30

When Hilton turned 25 in 2006, she was paid $125,000 to celebrate at a Las Vegas nightclub. Although she's now in the $50,000-$75,000 range, Hilton is still popular internationally and gets up to seven figures for appearances overseas. She's so beloved in the Philippines, she's designing a beach club there!

ADAM LEVINE'S

L.A. DIGS

The Voice's judge shows off his bachelor pad (and impressive art collection, with works by Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol) in Architectural Digest's March issue.

SINEAD O'CONNOR

'I WAS FALLING APART'

Since August, the Irish singer, 45, has made news with her suicidal tweets, sexually explicit blogs and Vegas wedding. Now she explains her erratic behavior to Scoop.

Why reveal yourself so publicly?

I always say it's my therapist's fault I've been up to mischief; he's brought me alive. When you come from child abuse, many parts of you lie dormant. [But] it's taken me a while to get that it's dangerous to be so open.

What abuse did you suffer?

My mother was sadistic. It was daily, physical abuse. I forgive her-there wasn't help for her.

Last year you learned you were misdiagnosed as bipolar and actually have post-traumatic stress disorder.

I went off the bipolar meds very slowly. There's no drug treatment for PTSD. Sufferers get bashed because we're "crazy," but crazy is a term of abuse. We need to be compassionate.

Was that hard for your sons Jake, 24, Shane, 8, Yeshua, 5, and daughter Roisin, 16?

I've been good about keeping it together at home. But at work, I was falling apart. That's why I went to a hospital in January, so they wouldn't be exposed. My older kids see the papers, they know I've had difficulty with depression and aren't frightened by it.

You've reconciled with fourth husband Barry Herridge, whom you wed in Vegas and split from 18 days later.

I don't want to make a mockery of marriage or myself. People pressured him for being with me. But we adore each other. He's gentle and quiet, like a human tranquilizer.

What's home life like in Bray, Ireland?

It's a mess-a teen, two small boys, three dogs and a cat! [Laughs] We do normal stuff: watch movies, argue over homework. I try to get food into them and get them to bed!
