TEEN MOM'S AMBER PORTWOOD
WHY I CHOSE PRISON
When Teen Mom star Amber Portwood pleaded guilty to a drug charge and a probation violation in February, she entered rehab to avoid a five-year prison sentence. However, after balking at group therapy sessions because of the potential for rumors, the MTV reality star changed her mind and reported to jail. "People don't understand what I'm going through, and I knew they wouldn't," Portwood, 22, tells Scoop in a jailhouse interview. "I want to get my GED while I'm here, and I hear they offer cosmetology. I'd like to do something to better myself." She has the support of her family, including her mother, Tonya, 45. "It's tough because [Portwood's 3-year-old daughter] Leah won't be able to see her," she says tearfully, "but it's a fresh start."
TOUGH 'AT TIMES'
Simon Cowell would have been proud. At X Factors' Kansas City, Mo., auditions June 8 and 9, Britney Spears, 30, sat by U.K. judge Louis Walsh (subbing for a sick Cowell) and passed out her fair share of barbs: "That was very boring," she told one stunned contestant. "She's a harsh judge at times," says a show insider. "But she's also prepared to stick her neck out and support someone."
LINDSAY'S LATEST SETBACK
Lindsay Lohan is in hot water again. Sources close to law enforcement say she lied to police by telling them she wasn't the driver when her Porsche collided with a dump truck on June 8. If she did lie, that could be a potential probation violation in her necklace-theft and DUI cases, and she could face a 245-day jail sentence. A bruised Lohan, 25, returned to the Liz & Dick set later that afternoon. Says a source: "She's in shock more than anything."
JERSEY SHORE ANTICS!
TRUE TO FORM, THE MTV REALITY STARS HAVE ANOTHER INSANE WEEKEND
PAULY D & J-WOWW
On June 8, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, 26, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino, 30, and their friends got into a fight at the Bamboo Bar after a patron shoved Pauly D, 31, says owner John Saaddy. (There were no serious injuries, but J-WOWW hurt her ankle after trying to get her beau Roger Mathews out of the way.)
Despite saying pregnant women should stay out of clubs (see page 46) Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, 24, hit Karma nightclub June 9 while filming. Even so, "she was sitting the whole time," says an onlooker, who adds she was not drinking. "It was very subdued of her!"
Capping off a weekend of partying, Deena Cortese was arrested June 10 for disorderly conduct. After leaving Spicy Cantina eatery, "she began dancing in the street, running around and impeding the flow of traffic," says Seaside Heights detective Steve Korman. After being taken to the police station and processed, Cortese, 25, was released into the custody of her parents.
BOUGHT FOR $2.35 MILLION
Blake & Ryan's Cozy New Home
BEDFORD, N.Y. They've been a couple for less than a year, but Ryan Reynolds, 35, and Blake Lively, 24, are making their new five-bedroom Colonial house look lived-in. In addition to buying $1,000 worth of knobs from Anthropologie, a source tells Scoop, Lively was eyeing chandeliers at Parc Monceau, an antique shop in Westport, Conn.; has been shopping for "vintage, one-of-a-kind pieces" and "has good taste: modern traditional with a twist."
ON HER RETIREMENT
Forced to retire due to a 2010 skiing injury, Olympic gymnast and former Dancing with the Stars winner Shawn Johnson, 20, shares what's next.
Were you nervous to announce your retirement?
I was terrified people would be upset and wouldn't understand. But people have been incredibly supportive.
How did you come to the decision?
After my surgeries I didn't have any cartilage left in my knee. The doctors said [gymnastics] could result in further damage.
Will it be difficult to go to the 2012 Olympics as a spectator?
It'll be hard to sit on the sidelines, but I can't wait to cheer.
Next on your agenda?
The book tour [her memoir Winning Balance came out June 5] and college in Fall 2013 ... at either Vanderbilt or Stanford.
Are you sure retiring is the right move?
I'm 100 percent positive it is. The past few nights have been the best nights of sleep I have ever had.
JENNIFER LOPEZ'S SEXY TOUR STYLE
J. Lo will dazzle in eight looks by designer Zuhair Murad during her 24-city tour this summer. "There is no limit to her imagination," says Murad, who collaborated with Lopez, 42, on ideas and then created the pieces in his Beirut atelier. "My utmost wish is for each costume to create a 'Wow!' effect the moment she steps onstage."
Inspired by turn-of-the-century Parisian performers, Murad used feathers and a crystal-studded cap for the opening look.
LOPEZ TOURS JUNE 14 TO AUG. 31!
Murad's atelier created a duplicate of each costume, including this blue feather cape, which covers a matching blue ensemble (above right).
Every outfit, including this rose-gold beaded bodysuit, features at least 2,000 hand-sewn crystals or beads.
Murad's goal was to make sure Lopez's costumes-like this two-piece blue-fringed dress-"really give life to her music."
Lopez wears this costume covered in black pearl beads for her finale. "She has a beautiful body and wears each look perfectly," says Murad.
