Victoria's Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio, 31, showed off her 2-month old son Noah Phoenix Mazur on Facebook June 26. The photo shoot, which benefitted UNICEF, features the Brazilian mom with Noah and his big sister Anja, 3, Ambrosio's two kids with fiancé Jamie Mazur, 34. "Anja is a proud big sister now, and we are so thankful he is with us."
Actress and Grammy winner Lauryn Hill, 37, pleaded guilty to charges of tax evasion in a Newark, N.J., federal courthouse on June 29. The reclusive hip-hop artist was accused of failing to file three years of income tax returns on earnings totaling $1.8 million. "I filed and paid my taxes," she wrote on her Tumblr. "This only stopped when it was necessary to withdraw from society, in order to guarantee the safety and well-being of myself and my family." Hill, who could face up to three years in prison and at least $75,000 in fines upon sentencing in November, has six children, five of whom are with reggae icon Bob Marley's son Rohan, 40.
Dixie Chicks singer Emily Robison, 39, is expecting her fourth child in September with her boyfriend Martin Strayer. Robison, who in the past has been vocal about her fertility struggles, is also the mom of twins Julianna and Henry, 7, and Charles, 9, with ex-husband songwriter Charlie Robison, 47.
Three years after Bernard Madoff, 74, was sentenced for the biggest Ponzi scheme in history, his brother Peter Madoff, 66, pleaded guilty to conspiracy and falsifying records. Peter, who was implicated in Bernie's scam, told a New York court on June 29 that he wanted "to apologize to anyone who was harmed." The younger Madoff faces 10 years in prison. Bernie is currently serving 150 years.
Award-winning composer and lyricist Richard Adler, 90, who produced the 1962 Democratic fundraiser where Marilyn Monroe memorably sang "Happy Birthday, Mr. President" to John F. Kennedy, died June 21 in Southampton, N.Y. Adler won Tonys for cowriting songs with Jerry Ross for the Broadway musicals The Pajama Game and Damn Yankees. His biggest hits include "You Gotta Have Heart," "Whatever Lola Wants" and "Rags to Riches."
TWO CLASSIC TELEVISION ACTORS DIE
Don Grady, 68, who played Robbie Douglas, one of the sons on the '60s and '70s sitcom My Three Sons, died June 27 in Thousand Oaks, Calif., of cancer. Grady enjoyed a music career in later life, composing for television and film, including the theme song for The Phil Donahue Show.
Actress Doris Singleton, 92, who played Lucille Ball's boastful and competitive neighbor on I Love Lucy, died June 26 in Los Angeles of cancer. Singleton also had a recurring role on My Three Sons with Don Grady. She "will be missed," posted Lucie Arnaz, Ball and Desi Arnaz's daughter.
