When Kelsey and Kayte Grammer tied the knot last February, she gave him a wedding band with the inscription "Live by faith." Little did they know, they'd soon be doing just that. Faith Evangeline Elisa Grammer, born July 13, has recently become the new boss of the Grammer household, and her parents couldn't be happier about it. "I love waking up and seeing her face," says Kayte, 31. "We sit and stare at her a lot," adds Kelsey, 57. But the road to parenthood hasn't been smooth. In January the couple announced they were expecting twins, only to learn soon after that they had lost the little boy. Kayte, who also miscarried in the fall of 2010 (a baby girl they'd planned to name Faith), says their hardships have made their daughter's arrival that much sweeter. "I don't take it for granted," says Kayte, a native of England. "It's such a miracle and a gift to bring a baby into the world." Faith made her grand entrance at 37 weeks, via C-section, just hours after the couple landed in L.A. from Chicago, where Kelsey was filming his TV drama Boss
. "I got to see her first, and she looked a little terrified," the actor says. Yet when he placed the infant in his wife's arms, "she smiled right at her mother." Since bringing Faith home, the couple have been dividing up duties (Kayte's the "OCD" diaper expert; Kelsey-who has four other kids from previous relationships-is the burping pro), especially since they didn't hire a nanny or night nurse. "Kayte said, 'I don't want to hear my baby cry, walk in to help her and hear someone say, "I got this,"' " explains Kelsey. They agree the toughest challenge has been the lack of sleep. "Faith has party time," says Kelsey. "It's somewhere between 1 and 3 in the morning." But even exhaustion is cause for celebration. "It's a reflection of us that she is here," he says. "We want her to live the life she came to live."
