AMY POEHLER & WILL ARNETT
CALLING IT QUITS
For one of Hollywood's funniest couples, it was no laughing matter: On Sept. 6 Amy Poehler, 40, and Will Arnett, 42, announced they were separating after nine years of marriage. "They've been apart for months," a source close to the couple tells Scoop. The devoted parents to sons Archie, 3, and Abel, 2, "used to sneak away for date nights with friends at the Chateau [Marmont]," says the source. But the long hours starring in their NBC sitcoms (she's on Parks and Recreation; he's on Up All Night) took a toll on the couple. Ignore rumblings of infidelity, the source says: "Will and Amy have a lot of love for each other. It just wasn't working anymore."
TAYLOR SWIFT & CONOR KENNEDY
WORK VS. SCHOOL
After more than two months of dating, the Grammy winner's relationship with the high school junior is being put to the test. Swift, 22, has been jet-setting for work (her album Red is due Oct. 22), while Kennedy, 18, returned to Deerfield Academy Sept. 6. "People are definitely talking about them," says a Deerfield insider, noting Kennedy's new romance is "better than his [dating] record here." His classmates hope Swift will attend the school's fall arts showcase. "People want her to come sing," says the insider-and do a duet with Conor. "He has the confidence to do it."

Rio de Janeiro
Four months after giving birth to daughter Maxwell Drew, Jessica Simpson, 32, debuted her slimmer shape on Katie Couric's new syndicated daytime talk show, Katie. "I've lost enough weight to where I can pat myself on the back," says the Weight Watchers spokeswoman. She won't give an exact number, but Simpson says she's shed more than 40 lbs.-equivalent to "a small child." With a goal to lose 10 lbs. more before judging the next season of Fashion Star, she added, "I want to be in all the pretty dresses and the designer gowns!"
OLYMPIAN MICHELLE KWAN
Two-time Olympic medalist Michelle Kwan's fiancé, Clay Pell, 30, scored high marks when proposing to his girlfriend of one year. After a weekend that included a romantic picnic, scenic bike ride and walk on the beach around Block Island (off the coast of Rhode Island), Pell got down on both knees Sept. 3 to ask for her hand in marriage. "It was so cute," Kwan, 32, tells Scoop. Admittedly a latecomer to dating, she says being in a relationship "is helping me open up." The Washington, D.C.-based couple (she works for the State Department; he works for the National Security Council) met competing for a White House fellowship. "It was harder than the Olympics!" she says. (He got the position.) The pair will wed "sooner than later," says Pell, who looks forward to their future. "We're excited to be there for each other."
STARS' FRESH INK
FROM A TATTOOED TRIBUTE TO A PERMANENT SHOW OF LOVE, THE LATEST IN CELEB BODY ART
"New tat. Stamp of his Mermaid," Gaga, 26, tweeted about the new addition to her left side. The right remains ink-free per her father's request to keep part of her body "slightly normal."
The singer, 24, honored her late grandmother Ciara "Dolly" Braithwaite by tattooing the goddess Isis under her breasts.
"That's my WIFE," the football player, 34, tweeted after a fan questioned why he had the portrait of his estranged wife, Evelyn Lozada, 36, on his leg. The Basketball Wives star filed for divorce after he allegedly attacked her in August.
The pop star, 18, showed off a crown on his clavicle three months after inking "Believe" on his inner arm.
GOING UNDER THE NEEDLE ISN'T ALWAYS WORTH IT
The actor, 53, recently said tattooing ex-wife Roseanne's face on his chest to save their marriage "was the stupidest thing I ever did."
Getting a friend's lips inked on her arm "was a spur-of-the-moment, stupid decision," the singer, 20, said on Live! with Kelly & Michael.
After a three-year engagement, How I Met Your Mother star Cobie Smulders and Saturday Night Live breakout Taran Killam, both 30, tied the knot in Solvang, Calif., Sept. 8. The bride wore a lacy Claire Pettibone gown at the family-friendly affair, which reportedly featured hay rides for 300 guests, including the couple's daughter Shaelyn, 3, and the bride's costars Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan, who brought their kids.
It's a love match: Tennis star Venus Williams, 32, returned to the U.S. Open in late August with new boyfriend Elio Alberto Pis on her arm. The 6'1" Cuban model, 24, has a psychology degree and has worked with Williams on her athletic clothing line EleVen.
It's over for Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba and Jesse Sloan, who became engaged in March 2011 when the accountant, 41, proposed to her on Live! With Regis and Kelly. Says a rep for Inaba, 44: "They decided early in the summer to break off their engagement and have remained friends."
After more than six months of dating, The Newsroom's Olivia Munn, 32, and The Killing star Joel Kinnaman still can't get enough of each other. At the bar of the Thanks for Sharing party at the Toronto Film Festival Sept. 8, "they were holding hands and sharing kisses," says a guest. "Then they moved to the back of the restaurant, where they cuddled late into the night."
