PRINCESS KATE HELLO, BABY!
Let the bump watch begin! Though it would later be on display during a family holiday on Mustique, when the Duchess of Cambridge hit the streets of London Jan. 30, royal watchers rejoiced at their first glimpse of a baby belly. Just how much she's showing was hard to tell under her curve-concealing cape, but the appearance-along with recent sightings of her browsing for loungewear at fitness shop Sweaty Betty and popping into Zara to pick up printed harem pants-was welcome evidence that the severe morning sickness that landed her in the hospital has eased, at least for now. Insiders warn the symptoms could return and say Kate is "controlling" the illness rather than curing it. "The Duchess's condition," says her office, "continues to improve."
Lucky thing, since there's so much to be done. The Palace has announced the mom-to-be's next public appearance, a visit to substance abuse center Hope House on Feb. 19, and more are expected between now and July, when the royal heir is due. And there's a nursery to decorate: Scaffolding has appeared around apartment 1A at Kensington Palace. "She is super-nesting," says Majesty magazine editor Ingrid Seward. "There must be so much she wants to do because she has been laid up for so long." William and Kate have advertised for a housekeeper, signaling the busier life ahead. And soon William will announce whether he plans to leave the military to become a full-time working royal. Whatever his decision, says historian Robert Lacey, the couple's quiet life in Anglesey will soon be just "a happy memory." Three a.m. nappy changes, anyone?

ASHLEY JUDD AND DARIO FRANCHITTI
INSIDE THE SPLIT
AFTER 11 YEARS OF MARRIAGE, JUDD AND HER RACECAR-DRIVER HUSBAND REACH THE END OF THE ROAD. WHAT WENT WRONG?
For nearly 11 years, Ashley Judd, 44, was a fixture at Dario Franchitti's IndyCar races, playing what was one of her happiest roles: supportive wife. "She'd yell and wave her hands in the air," says a racing-circuit source. "She was there for him in a big way." By late last year, however, their relationship appeared strained. A source who was with them at a race in Miami says the couple appeared at odds: "They didn't seem comfortable together at all." The actress, who's exploring a Senate run from Kentucky in 2014, once praised her husband, 39, as "utterly courageous." But their disagreements were occasionally heated. "They could be having dinner and all of a sudden sparks would fly and they would be fighting," an acquaintance says of the couple. Still, Judd and Franchitti told PEOPLE in a statement Jan. 29, "we'll always be family and continue to cherish our relationship." Fittingly, they then tweeted the same phrase to each other: "family forever."

MY WORST VALENTINE'S DAY MEMORY
I was falling for this girl in ninth grade, and I got her a box set of my favorite kung fu B movies. I think she assumed it was a box of diamonds. Then she saw Chow Yun-fat and was like, "Oh, gotcha." I didn't get a kiss that day.
In eighth grade I was dumped by a boy. Ever since then I've just been like, "Eh, just another day!"
When I was 23, my boyfriend Steve broke up with me! He wanted to spend time with his other girlfriend. There was yelling and screaming. He made the biggest mistake.
-JENNI "JWOWW" FARLEY
My friends and I threw a singles Valentine's Day party and hired a stripper, thinking it would be hysterical. But the guy was in his 40s, and he wore an animal-print fur thong. We were horrified!
I'm one of those guys that's like, "Oh, s---. It's Valentine's Day. I better get flowers or something." It's not a guy's holiday, so they all suck to me.
