The Today show's Savannah Guthrie, 41, is getting married. On the May 13 broadcast, she announced that her boyfriend of four years, political consultant Michael Feldman, 44, had proposed over Mother's Day weekend. "I'm so excited," Guthrie said. "He's the best person. He knows me inside and out, and we just adore each other." This will be the TV cohost's second marriage. She was married to BBC News presenter Mark Orchard from 2005 to 2009.
After more than half a century in the TV news industry, The View cohost and veteran ABC News anchor Barbara Walters, 83, announced she will retire from the small screen in the summer of 2014. "I am very happy with my decision," Walters said in a statement on May 12. "I look forward to a wonderful and special year ahead." In 1976 Walters became the first female to coanchor a network evening news program. Randy Jackson (inset), 56, the last original judge on American Idol, is leaving the show. "Yo! Yo! Yo," said the music producer in a statement on May 9. "After 12 years of judging on American Idol I have decided it is time to leave after this season. It's been a life-changing opportunity, but I am looking forward to focusing on my company, Dream Merchant 21."

Fantastic Four actor Ioan Gruffudd, 39, and his wife, Vampire Diaries actress Alice Evans, 44, are expecting a second child. The couple, already parents of 3-year-old Ella Betsi Janet, are "thrilled" to be expanding their family, their rep told People. The two stars have been married since 2007.
Ottavio Missoni, the eponymous patriarch of the iconic fashion line, died May 9 in Sumirago, Italy. He was 92. Missoni, who created the Italian brand, known for its bold multicolored zigzag-patterned clothing in the 1950s, helped make the line a favorite among fashionistas including Kate Middleton. It's been a difficult year for the fashion family. On Jan. 4, Ottavio's oldest child, Vittorio Missoni, 58, disappeared along with his wife and four others while flying in a small plane near Venezuela. They have not yet been found. •Beloved soap star Jeanne Cooper, who played grande dame Katherine Chancellor for nearly 40 years on The Young and the Restless, died in her sleep at an L.A.-area hospital on May 8. She was 84. The feisty Emmy-award-winning actress "was as true as they come," Cooper's son, former L.A. Law actor Corbin Bernsen, 58, told an L.A. CBS affiliate news station, adding that his mother so loved acting on the show that she worked "right to the end."
DR. JOYCE BROTHERS DIES
Pop-culture phenomenon Dr. Joyce Brothers, a former housewife who went on to become known as television's leading psychologist, died on May 13 in Fort Lee, N.J. She was 85. In a broadcasting career that spanned five decades, the Columbia University-educated Brothers was a trailblazer in on-air advice, offering viewers wisdom on such matters as sex, relationships and child-rearing. "She was a pioneer," said Dr. Phil McGraw of Brothers, who appeared in dozens of TV shows and movies as herself. Dr. Joyce was married to Milton Brothers, an internist, until his death in 1989. She is survived by a daughter, Lisa Brothers Arbisser.
