Oscar-winner Catherine Zeta-Jones, 43, has returned home after having checked herself into a facility last month for treatment of bipolar II disorder. The Red 2 star, finishing what husband Michael Douglas described as a "10,000-mile checkup," was seen in New York City on May 21. In 2011 Zeta-Jones first revealed her diagnosis. "She's doing a really good job of getting balanced. I'm proud of her," Douglas, 68, told PEOPLE.
Office Space star Ron Livingston, 46, and his wife, Promised Land actress Rosemarie DeWitt, 41, announced on May 23 they are first-time parents. The couple are "thrilled to announce the arrival of their daughter, Gracie James," whom they welcomed through adoption, their reps told People. "The whole family is happy and well." Gracie was born on April 29. It's a girl for JoAnna Garcia. The Internship actress and her husband, Nick Swisher, the Cleveland Indians outfielder, welcomed their first child, Emerson Jay, on May 21 in Cleveland. "She is healthy, beautiful and vibrant," the couple told PEOPLE. Garcia, 33, and Swisher, 32, married in 2010. New York Knicks forward Amar'e Stoudemire and wife Alexis, both 30, are the proud parents of their fourth child, son Alijah Carsares, born May 21. He weighed in at 7 lbs. 3 oz. "Alexis and the baby are doing great. #Blessed," the basketball player wrote on Twitter. The couple are already parents to Ar'e, 7, Amar'e Jr., 6, and Assata, 5.
The Hangover Part III's Justin Bartha (inset), 34, is engaged to be married. The actor proposed to personal trainer Lia Smith in early May. "They're very happy," a source told PEOPLE of the pair. The two were first publicly linked when they were photographed together on New Year's Day.
Gabe Saporta, 33, the frontman of the rock band Cobra Starship, tied the knot with designer Erin Fetherston on May 26 in Barbados. The couple, who wed in a garden ceremony at the St. Nicholas Abbey plantation, got engaged on the island last New Year's Eve. Fetherston, 32, wore a gown of her own design.
Ed Shaughnessy, the longtime Tonight Show drummer under Johnny Carson, died of a heart attack on May 24 in Calabasas, Calif. He was 84. Shaughnessy, who played drums on the late-night talk show from 1963 to 1992, left when Jay Leno stepped in as the show's new host. The musician was predeceased in 2010 by his wife, Ilene Woods, who voiced Cinderella in Disney's 1950 animated film.
OKLAHOMA TORNADO RELIEF
When President Barack Obama visited tornado-devastated Moore, Okla., on May 26, he vowed to help survivors "every step of the way" as they rebuild their lives. Also helping victims of the May 20 twister is Oklahoma native and country star Blake Shelton (see page 90). The singer has organized a telethon, set to air May 29 on NBC, to raise funds for the United Way of Central Oklahoma. "Everyone has their way to help," said The Voice mentor. "Mine as an entertainer is to perform to help raise money and awareness for this tragedy."
