Channing Tatum, 33, and his wife, Witches of East End actress Jenna Dewan-Tatum, 32, welcomed their first child, daughter Everly, on May 31 in London. PEOPLE's reigning Sexiest Man Alive said he was prepping for fatherhood by watching documentaries but was worried about mastering the art of diapering. "I have never changed a diaper before, so I may need some help learning," explained Tatum. "I hope I don't have any problems where the diaper falls off and the baby poops on the ground."
Almost three years after announcing their split, Cougar Town star Courteney Cox Arquette, 49, and actor David Arquette, 41, are officially divorced. Their breakup was finalized in Los Angeles on May 28. The couple, who have a daughter, Coco, 9, said in court papers that "irreconcilable differences have caused the irremediable breakdown of the marriage." The two had been married since 1999.

Private Practice's KaDee Strickland is pregnant with her first child. The actress, 37, and her husband, former Roswell star Jason Behr, 39, are expecting in the fall. The two first met in Japan in 2004 on the set of the film The Grudge and wed in 2006 in Ojai, Calif.
Bernadette Hernandez, the mother of Grammy award-winning singer Bruno Mars (inset), died on June 1 in a Honolulu hospital after suffering a brain aneurysm. She was 55. Hernandez, a singer and hula dancer from the Philippines, is often credited with introducing music to Mars, whose real name is Peter Gene Hernandez. She is survived by Mars, 27, and five other children.
In a case that captured international attention, Zumba fitness instructor Alexis Wright was sentenced on May 31 to 10 months in jail on multiple counts including prostitution, conspiracy, tax evasion and theft by deception. Wright, 30, had been accused of operating a prostitution business out of a Kennebunk, Maine, fitness studio and had at least 150 clients.
On May 24 Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman finished a 10-day stint in a rehab program for the abuse of substances that included heroin, PEOPLE has confirmed. The Capote actor, 45, revealed to TMZ that he began using drugs about a year ago after being clean for 23 years. Hoffman checked himself into a detox facility on the East Coast. He credited "a great group of friends and family" for persuading him to seek treatment.
UNITED STATES SEN. FRANK LAUTENBERG DIES
Frank Lautenberg, who helped create many of today's health and safety laws, died in New York City on June 3 of complications from viral pneumonia. He was 89. The New Jersey Democrat, who served five terms, was the senate's last surviving Word War II veteran. He was instrumental in passing the 1984 law that set the national drinking age at 21. A former smoker, he also pushed for legislation banning smoking on domestic flights. "[He] fought for the things he believed in," said New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. Lautenberg is survived by his wife, Bonnie Englebardt Lautenberg, 66, 6 children and 13 grandchildren.
