Comedian Tracy Morgan, 44, welcomed a baby girl named Maven Sonae on July 2 in New York. Maven, weighing in at 7 lbs. 3 oz., is the actor's first child with his fiancée, Megan Wollover, 26. Morgan, who also has three sons from a previous marriage, told PEOPLE, "Mother and child are doing fine." Busy Philipps, 34, and her husband, screenwriter Marc Silverstein, 42, welcomed their second daughter on July 2. The actress announced the birth on July 3 by tweeting, "So this happened ..." with a first photo of her baby girl, who had not yet been named. The new family member joins big sister Birdie Leigh, 4. On July 2 actor Colin Hanks and wife Samantha Bryant, 34, announced the arrival of a baby girl, Charlotte Bryant. The exact birth date was not revealed, but Charlotte is the second child for the couple, who are already parents to Olivia Jane, 2. "She's as happy and healthy as we are over-joyed and tired," the actor, 35, told PEOPLE.
Art collector Charles Saatchi, 70, announced he is divorcing celebrity chef Nigella Lawson, 53, after she failed to defend him during a fallout over their public argument on June 9, when photos surfaced of him clutching her by the throat in a London restaurant. "I am disappointed that she was advised to make no public comment to explain that I abhor violence of any kind against women," Saatchi said in a statement to the Mail on Sunday newspaper in the U.K. The couple have been married for 10 years. "This is heartbreaking for both of us as our love was very deep," his statement said. A rep for Lawson declined to comment at press time.
Lauryn Hill (inset) began a three-month sentence at a minimum security prison in Danbury, Conn., on July 8. (She will serve an additional three months of house arrest after her release.) In May the singer, 38, was sentenced for failing to pay nearly $1 million in taxes. She reportedly will be housed in the general population of the federal correctional facility.
Country star Randy Travis, 54, was admitted to a Texas hospital on July 7. At press time he was listed in critical condition. His rep confirmed that the singer had been "suffering from complications of recently acquired viral cardiomyopathy."
Rocker Shooter Jennings, 34, the son of the late country singer Waylon Jennings, tied the knot with Misty Brooke Swain on June 4, People has confirmed. The ceremony took place in Joshua Tree, Calif.
ENTER THE DRAGON'S JIM KELLY DIES
Jim Kelly, who rose to stardom as an Afro-sporting, wisecracking martial artist alongside Bruce Lee in 1973's Enter the Dragon, passed away of cancer in his San Diego home on June 29. He was 67. His cameo in the film won the hearts of fans, and in recent years he was a popular guest at comic book conventions. After earning a black belt in karate, Kelly set his sights on Hollywood and starred in a number of films during the 1970s, including Three the Hard Way, Black Belt Jones and Black Samurai. He described working on Enter the Dragon with Lee as "one of the best experiences in my life."
