Garth Files for Divorce
Garth Brooks, 38, has filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences with his wife since 1986, Sandy, according to court documents. The country superstar, who announced his retirement at a Nashville press conference on Oct. 26, filed the documents on Tuesday in Tennessee's Davidson County Circuit Court under his full name, Troyal G. Brooks. The couple separated in March last year, say the legal papers, and Sandy Brooks moved back to their native Oklahoma the following July. (The Brookses maintain homes in both Nashville and near Tulsa.) The divorce was not unexpected, as Brooks has openly admitted that the marriage was bumpy, given his absenteeism from home owing to professional commitments. At his press conference two weeks ago, Brooks cited his three daughters, who range in age from 8 to 4, as his reason for going into semi-retirement. He's since said that he will probably cut at least one more album and perform a show or two before hanging up his white hat for good.
