Liza Minnelli Hospitalized in New York
Liza Minnelli was taken to a New York hospital early Monday morning after a bodyguard called 911 saying that the singer had fallen out of bed and hit her head, sources tell PEOPLE.
An Emergency Medical Services spokesman confirms that they received a medical call about an unconscious female from Minnelli's address around 3:30 a.m.
"She was sleeping and she rolled out of bed," a police source tells PEOPLE. "She hit her head. Her bodyguard got nervous and he called 911. He said he couldn't get her up. She wasn't bleeding. She was on the floor."
Two cops and two EMS workers showed up to her building on New York's Upper East Side. They put Minnelli, 58, on a stretcher and took her to New York Hospital, the source says.
There's been no comment from Minnelli's rep or the hospital about her condition.
It's been a tough few months for the Cabaret Oscar winner. In November, her former bodyguard and chauffeur, M'Hammed Soumayah, sued Minnelli for battery, assault and breach of contract. Soumayah, 56, who was seeking more than $100 million in damages, claimed that Minnelli beat him and forced him to have sex with her in order to keep his job. The same day, Minnelli countersued for at least $250,000, charging Soumayah with breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty.
