The viral infection that reputedly took Jennifer Garner off the promotion trail for her new movie Elektra turns out not to be that at all, but nerve damage to her back after having performed her own stunt work, according to a UCLA Medical Center diagnosis, her publicist says.

It is not known whether Garner sustained the nerve damage while shooting the movie or her ABC show Alias, but Access Hollywood reports that the actress, 32, will not be available for this week's press junket for Elektra. She will, however, attend its Saturday premiere at The Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas as well as the Golden Globes on Jan. 16.

For now, "her doctors have ordered her to take it easy," Garner's spokeswoman, Nicole King, tells USA Today.

Earlier this week, King said Garner (who was photographed spending the holidays in West Virginia with her family and boyfriend Ben Affleck) was "very sick" with a viral infection and "taking it day by day." The rep added that there is no truth to rumors that Garner is pregnant.
