SUNDAY, JAN. 9: Viewers will take control at the People's Choice Awards, which will be hosted by Listen Up stars Jason Alexander and Malcolm-Jamal Warner. From favorite female movie star (Nicole Kidman and Charlize Theron are among the nominees) to favorite music group (No Doubt and OutKast compete), all the awards are determined by online voters. Jessica Simpson and Ellen DeGeneres are among the presenters. And new categories for the 31st annual ceremony include favorite smile (Jennifer Lopez and Sarah Jessica Parkerare up for the honor) and favorite animated movie star. The show will air live at 9 p.m. from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.
Meanwhile, the countdown is over for the new season of 24. Kiefer Sutherland is back as deposed Counter Terrorist Unit agent Jack Bauer, but plenty of changes are afoot. Namely, the majority of the original cast, including Dennis Haysbert and Elisha Cuthbert, are gone (for at least most of the season) and a slew of new costars (including Third Watch's Kim Raver as Jack's new love interest) will join Sutherland as he dodges bullets, defuses bombs and lives another day as a crime fighter. "The show needed to be shaken up," Sutherland told USA Today. 24's two-hour premiere will be followed with another two-hour episode on Jan. 10.
MONDAY, JAN. 10: This time around, Jen Schefft is in the driver's seat. With ex-fiancé Andrew Firestone – whom she met on The Bachelor – out of the picture, the 28-year-old events planner hopes to follow in Trista Rehn's footsteps and find love on The Bachelorette. The setting for budding romance has shifted from Southern California to New York City, and Schefft, unlike previous Bachelorettes Rehn and Meredith Phillips, had a hand in casting her potential soulmates. Whether she found the man of her dreams remains to be seen, but Schefft admits she's "very happy with the outcome."
TUESDAY, JAN. 11: The odd couple of glam actress Rosario Dawson and curmudgeonly NYPD Blue star Dennis Franz will reveal the nominees for the 11th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at 6:20 a.m. PT at the SilverScreen Theater in Los Angeles. The nomination ceremony will be telecast live on TNT and E! Expect Oscar contenders Jamie Foxx (Ray), Hilary Swank (Million Dollar Baby) and Don Cheadle (ITALIC "Hotel Rwanda"]) to pop up on the nominee list. The SAG Awards air on Feb. 5 on TNT.
WEDNESDAY, JAN. 12: Move over, unkempt straight men: Make room for some needy straight women, who will get their own makeovers on Queer Eye for the Straight Girl. Though Carson, Kyan, Tom, Jai and Ted won't be around to offer helpful hints, there's a new team on the job to make women look and feel better about themselves. The Straight Girl's Fab Four crew consists of stylist Robbie Laughlin, Brit life coach Danny Teeson, interior designer Damon Pease and former model Honey Labrador (yes, you read that right), whom Bravo touts as "the first lesbian Queer Eye," who pitches in on all arenas. Let the makeovers begin.
