And the nominations won't even be announced until next Tuesday.
Speaking to the New York Times, Rock, who turns 40 on Feb. 7, says: "I am rooting for Jamie, and if he doesn't win, I'm going to talk about it on the show."
And should the Best Actor envelope not contain Foxx's name on Feb. 27, Rock vows, "I'll take an Oscar from one of the sound or light people that win and give it to him. Jamie Foxx is not going to walk out of that place without an Oscar."
Foxx clearly has a shot. Last week, he was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award. Sunday night, he won the Golden Globe as best actor in a musical. Leonardo DiCaprio took the Globe for best dramatic actor for The Aviator, but that epic biography of Howard Hughes was not to Rock's liking.
Rock tells The Times: "It's a weird movie; it's well made, but a story about a rich guy who gets things done doesn't excite me. Oooh, he overcame obstacles, like how much money to spend. And he washed his hands a lot."
Also in Foxx's favor is that Ray, about the late music legend Ray Charles, led the motion picture category for the 36th NAACP Image Awards, with seven nominations, including best movie and lead actor (Foxx) and actress (Kerry Washington).
Joining Ray as feature nominees are Collateral, Fahrenheit 9/11, Hotel Rwanda and Man on Fire. In the musical realm, Usher led the artist list with five nominations, reports Reuters.
The Image Awards ceremony will be held March 19 and televised by FOX on March 25. During the show, Oprah Winfrey will be inducted into the NAACP Image Awards Hall of Fame.
