Halle Berry, Colin Farrell Up for Razzies
They're baaaack, and they're as baaad as ever: The nominations for the Worst Pictures of the Year, as determined by the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation, were announced Monday.
Leading the heap, with seven nominations, is the critically clawed Catwoman starring Halle Berry – cited in categories that include worst picture, actress, director, screenplay and couple (Berry with either Benjamin Bratt or Sharon Stone – who got a worst supporting actress nod).
Hot on Catwoman's tail is Oliver Stone's under-performing period piece Alexander, starring worst actor nominee Colin Farrell. The historical epic received six nominations in all.
Competing with the two releases as worst movie of 2004 are Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2, Surviving Christmas and White Chicks.
Worst actor nominees, besides Farrell: Ben Affleck (for Jersey Girl and Surviving Christmas); George W. Bush (Fahrenheit 9/11); Vin Diesel (Chronicles of Riddick); and Ben Stiller (Along Came Polly, Anchorman, Dodgeball, Envy and Starsky & Hutch).
For worst actress, besides Berry: Hilary Duff (Cinderella Story and Raise Your Voice), Angelina Jolie (Alexander and Taking Lives); Mary-Kate And Ashley Olsen (New York Minute); and "The Wayans Sisters," as the Razzie folks are calling Shawn and Marlon (White Chicks).
Just as the Razzie nominations are being announced one day before the Oscar nominations are revealed, so will the Razzie "winners" receive their awards (invariably in absentia) the day before the Academy Awards.
This year’s Razzies will take place at Hollywood’s Ivar Theater – within spitting distance of the Kodak Theatre – on the evening of Feb. 26. This being the silver anniversary of the affair, worst losers from the past 25 years will also be, er, honored.
