Caught in the act:
Matt Damon, enjoying dinner at Dan Tana's. Cameron Diaz was also spotted there earlier that night. ... Orlando Bloom and Kate Bosworth, hanging out in the lobby at the Chateau Marmont on L.A.'s Sunset Strip. "They were sitting on the couch and with a group of eight friends until past midnight," says a spy. ... Cindy Crawford and husband Rande Gerber, enjoying a late dinner with another couple at celeb favorite eatery Nobu, while Courteney Cox and David Arquette dined outside with Sacha Baron Cohen (a.k.a. Ali G). Also on the outside patio was John Cusack with friends, and, at a separate table, Entourage star Jeremy Piven, eating with Vanessa Marcil of TV's Las Vegas. ... William H. Macy and his Desperate Housewives star wife, Felicity Huffman, buying produce and cookies at the Larchmont Farmer's Market with their two young daughters.

Keeping Warm
The temperatures in Park City may have been hovering in the teens during the Sundance Film Festival, but celebs like Pamela Anderson, Paris Hilton and Shannon Elizabeth were still more interested in skimpy lingerie than cozy outerwear. At Frederick's of Hollywood inside the Fred Segal boutique, Anderson, with boyfriend Stephen Dorff, snagged a baby-blue chemise (also selected by fellow Baywatch babe Carmen Electra). Of a chocolate-brown version of the same item, Paris Hilton said, "That's hot. I have to wear it tonight," while sister Nicky, looking bored, tried to get the Simple Life star to hurry up. Fortunately the Hiltons didn't cross paths with reunited couple Shannen Doherty and Rick Salomon (since he is the creator of and costar in Paris's infamous sex tape), who also stopped by the boutique. Lord of the Rings star Sean Astin's wife, Christine, went home with some blue silk pajamas she said would be "perfect for Valentine's Day."

Shady Business
Mariah Carey stopped by Premiere Radio Networks satellite radio company in New York this week, entourage in tow, to promote her first single, "It's Like That," from her new album, The Emancipation of Mimi, due April 12. Carey, who arrived at noon wearing dark sunglasses, kept them on throughout her interviews, despite conducting them in the dark, says a spy. The music video for "It's Like That," to be shot next week, will be directed by Brett Ratner (Rush Hour).

Father Knows Best
Mario Van Peebles, recently nominated for an Independent Spirit Award (for best feature, best director and best screenplay) for Baadasssss! – a biopic about his father, Melvin, a famed African-American actor and director whom Mario also portrayed in the film – isn't taking his newfound recognition for granted. "I'm a ham and like to act and direct," he told us at the recent Creative Coalition ball in Washington, D.C. "Now that I got a little profile, I know you only keep it for five minutes anyway. My dad said there are four phases of an actor's life: There's 'Mario who?' 'Get me Mario.' 'Get me Young Mario,' and 'Mario who?' While you're out there, make something of it."
