N.Y. Judge Upholds Snipes's Arrest Warrant
Wesley Snipes lost a round in a New York court Wednesday when a federal judge refused to dismiss an arrest warrant for the Blade star, in a paternity suit brought by a woman he says he has never met.

U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska dismissed nearly all the claims by Snipes - including that the paternity case has violated his civil rights - saying the actor can pursue relief in state courts, reports the Associated Press.

The arrest warrant from a New York family court judge reportedly came after a 33-year-old woman filed a paternity suit in Indiana in 2002, claiming she had sex with Snipes in a Chicago crackhouse and that he had fathered her 3-year-old son. Prosecutors in Indiana have requested a DNA sample from Snipes.

In his legal filing, Snipes, 42, stated that he had never met the woman, described as a "mentally ill former crack addict" who had also made outrageous claims involving the likes of Prince, Oprah Winfrey and Bill Clinton.

In declining Snipes's requests, the jurist said the actor had failed to show he would suffer irreparable harm, in part because he waited nearly a year and a half after the arrest warrant before he issued his challenge in federal court.

Outside the courtroom, Snipes's attorney Robert Bernhoft told reporters he did not know if he would appeal.
