"Brian," said Trump, "you're fired."
Philadelphian Brian McDowell, 29, a self-made millionaire from selling glow-in-the-dark necklaces, started out by volunteering to be project manager of the Net Worth "street smart" team. At first his teammates did not object, but later Kristen warned that under Brian's guidance, Net Worth was doomed to chaos.
The goal was to fix up the smelly and moldy Surfside Motel within 48 hours and with a puny budget of only $20,000, and then score high marks from paying guests.
Brian began by wanting to order a Dumpster, while Kristen, the team's budget director, thought costs should be projected first. Brian disagreed, telling the TV camera: "I think she forgets I'm the project manager." Deemed "tactless" by his team, Brian also ordered all new toilets for the complex, though several contestants thought only a few replacements were needed.
The book-smart Magna Corp. team, meanwhile, tackled the bug-infested and water-damaged Sea Garden Motel, with project manager Michael clashing with Verna, assigned to customer service. He wanted the place shipshape, while she was focusing on attracting guests.
By the time customers signed in, things went from okay to better for Magna, which organized a welcoming party for their guests. Net Worth provided entertainment for their patrons, too – in the form of a loud argument between Kristen and Brian. Angie and Audrey finally broke it up, though Kristen continued to rant about their project manager.
In another dramatic turn, Verna, sleep-deprived and just plain worn out, decided she'd had enough – and quit, simply to wander off. Carolyn finally got in her car, tracked down Verna and brought her back into the fold.
Once in the boardroom, Brian said there was no cooperation on his team and accepted the blame for that, even admitting he should be canned.
An exasperated Trump did not disagree, citing the toilet troubles and suggesting that new carpets were a better investment. Bye-bye, Brian.
