Democratic New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton briefly fainted while giving a speech on Social Security in Buffalo, N.Y., early Monday afternoon.

According to a statement from her office, "Sen. Clinton is suffering from a stomach virus. ... She felt weak, needed to sit down, and then fainted briefly. She received immediate medical attention at the site, and is now proceeding with her schedule as planned."

The incident occurred at the Saturn Club in Buffalo. Clinton, 57, is scheduled to address a Catholic college Monday afternoon.

Last September, Clinton's husband, former President Bill Clinton, 58, was hospitalized and underwent heart bypass surgery. He is now reported to be in good health.
