Smells like a hit: Sarah Jessica Parker is working with Coty Inc. to create a new line of fragrances that will be subtle but "fresh."
The Sex and the City actress is still ironing out the details of the first perfume, but she tells the Associated Press that it will be "intentionally quiet" and not overpowering. "It's not a scent you'll smell before a person walks in a room. I don't want it to not have social skills!" Parker said.
Parker told reporters that she resisted launching a fragrance because she didn't want fans to think that she was just slapping her name on any product. She said that perfume had had an important function for her – especially "on days you don't have time to shower," she joked.
But the 39-year-old actress quit the kidding as she explained why she decided to push ahead with the fragrance now. "I've been invited into women's lives and I take that seriously," Parker said. The fragrance will be out in the fall.
The smell of success was wafting around other Sex and the City cast members this week as well.
Kristin Davis, who played Charlotte York on the show, has signed to appear in an ABC pilot of Soccer Moms, two suburbanites who become private investigators, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Davis also is gearing up to star in a string of movies including Sellevision, Houseboat and a remake of Disney's The Shaggy Dog, opposite Tim Allen.
Meanwhile, it was a big move for Sex's Mr. Big, played by Chris Noth. Over the weekend, Noth made a guest appearance on Law & Order: Criminal Intent, which marks a return to the original series he left a decade ago, AP reports. Now, Noth is expected to become a regular on the series once again, easing some of the pressure on star Vincent D'Onofrio, who was hospitalized for exhaustion a couple times late last year.
