Matthew Perry Recovering from Drug Reaction

Matthew Perry was hospitalized in Los Angeles earlier this week because of a bad reaction to prescribed medication, his rep confirmed to PEOPLE.

The former Friends star, 35, was taken to an L.A. hospital for 24 hours on doctor's orders and then released, the rep said. No other details were given.

Perry underwent treatment for alcohol and prescription-drug addiction in 1997 and 2001.
