Jessica Simpson goes up against Lindsay Lohan, Gwen Stefani and others for top honors at the TRL Awards on Monday. PEOPLE takes a look at MTV's big party, plus other events to watch for in the coming week:
SUNDAY, FEB. 20: Gearheads and celebs alike will converge on Florida for the 47th annual Daytona 500. Among them: Ashton Kutcher will wave the green flag as the honorary starter, Matthew McConaughey is the event's grand marshal and Boston Red Sox centerfielder Johnny Damon will participate in pre-race ceremonies. Of course, they'll be joined by more than 200,000 spectators at Daytona International Speedway as 43 cars make their way through 200 laps of a 2.5 mile track. Even if you can't make it down for the race, you can catch it live on FOX at 1 p.m. ET.
MONDAY, FEB. 21: Who will be named TRL's First Lady? Will Lindsay Lohan triumph over Jessica Simpson, or will Gwen Stefani beat them both? Who's TRL's best guest host: Elijah Wood or Mischa Barton? Find out the answers when the third annual TRL Awards air on MTV at 5 p.m. ET. Lindsay, Usher, Destiny's Child and Eminem are among the guests scheduled to appear.
TUESDAY, FEB. 22: Now that he's home from the hospital and recovering from the flu, jury selection in the Michael Jackson child molestation trial will continue. According to Superior Court Judge Rodney Melville, it wasn't just Jackson who was struck by the bug: Several prospective jurors were also out waylaid by the virus. Once the jurors are selected, the trial is expected to last six months. Jackson (whose defense could include testimony from stars such as Elizabeth Taylor, Stevie Wonder and Tonight Show host Jay Leno) has pleaded not guilty to charges of molesting a 13-year-old former cancer patient.
THURSDAY, FEB. 24: There's Jennifer Lopez, the music diva, Jennifer Lopez, the actress – now go behind the scenes with Jennifer Lopez, the fashion designer, with the MTV special Jennifer Lopez: Beyond the Runway. The documentary follows Jenny from the Block as she navigates her way through the fashion world to prep for her Sweetface runway show – the $2 million spectacle that went down during New York's Fashion Week – while simultaneously juggling activities for the March 1 release of her new album, Rebirth. One thing Lopez won't be doing anytime soon is touring: She recently cancelled her European tour to promote the album.
