With Martha Stewart due for release from West Virginia's Alderson Federal Prison Camp as early as Friday – her sentence is officially to end Sunday, but the facility does not process releases on weekends – "her assistant is getting calls from people asking where (the party is) going to be," someone close to Stewart tells PEOPLE.

But after spending five months in jail for conspiracy and obstruction of justice, "There is no plan" for a reception, Stewart told a friend who visited her before her release. "I just have to get back to work and get moved into my house."

The domestic diva, 63, still faces five months of home confinement at her newly renovated Bedford, N.Y., estate. After her release she'll have 72 hours to report to a probation officer, who will fit her with a 1-in.-thick, black plastic-and-rubber electronic monitoring anklet.

Stewart can leave the house to work 48 hours a week; otherwise her movements are severely curtailed, though she can get started on a range of already announced projects: a new installment of The Apprentice with Mark Burnett, a daytime talk show and, of course, her memoir.

"I've got so much to think about," Stewart told her friend. This includes a March 17 appeal of her case that she hopes will clear her name and end her house arrest.

Just don't expect to see her on the social scene. Pending her appeal, Stewart's lawyers "don't want her out dancing on tabletops at Balthazar." says the friend, referring to a favorite New York restaurant.
