The Backstreet Boy, 25, reportedly was not required to attend the arraignment because the two charges are misdemeanors. His next hearing is set for May 2.
Carter was with friends at a Huntington Beach restaurant and was stopped by police after he pulled out of a parking structure and started driving on Main Street, according to the Smoking Gun Web site.
Carter was given a sobriety test, which he allegedly failed before being booked on a misdemeanor DUI charge. He was released several hours later.
"Nick Carter deeply regrets the current situation," the singer's rep said in a statement immediately after his arrest. "He is on doctor prescribed medication and was unaware of its interaction possibilities."
